Behavior issues

Hi Everyone!

I am in need of some advice. My 4 year old boy has a terrible temper. It seems to have gotten worse in the last month or two. Most of his anger comes from ing with his oldest brother who is 6. My concern is, he says some really strange things that I dont think are normal. My husband is a deer hunter and just the other day he told me that our 6 year old wants to shoot him with daddy's gun. Which the 6 year old never said! My 4 year old has just started making things up for attention. First of all, the gun is locked up in a safe so that is not a concern. I dont know why or where he would get this from. He lives in a very loving happy home. I am home with him all day. He goes to preschool twice a week and is doing great there. i just dont understand why he would say something like that at 4 years old. Then yesterday he told his brother (the 6 yr old) that he is going to kill him with a knife. That has me very conerned! I called my Pediactrician to make an appointment to have him seen. When he is not irritated with his brother, he is noramally a very happy, sweet little boy. My husband thinks maybe he is picking up some of this language from school. I am going to talk to his teacher tommorow when he goes. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. I just cant believe my boy is talking so violently and I need to know how to handle that. I punish him by sending him up to his room but that makes things worse because then he makes a huge mess his room.

Hi there and .

I really don't know what to tell you in this situation. I am wondering if maybe he is seeing some of this on television or something. Kids do say some pretty nasty things and yes at young ages and where they get it from is anyone's guess but have you sat down with him and asked him why he says these things? Ask him where he heard of such things like that and see what he tells you.
Ask him why he dislikes his brother so much. You might get some answers.

Otherwise I would see what the doctor has to say about this. Good luck and keep us posted as to how things go.

Thanks Darlene! I did ask him today why he says things like that and he says he doesnt know why. I asked him if he was hearing it at school and he said no. I am for sure going to talk to his teacher though and find out if there is a child in his class that may talk like that. This all just started a month or two ago. My husband and I only let them watch G rated shows. I am determined to find out why my boy is talking like that. I will keep ya updated. Thank you for the quick reply

Well it would definitely be worth asking the doctor about then if your son doesn't know why he is saying those things. There has to be some reason for it.
I would talk to the teacher also and if she hasn't heard any other kids talking like that maybe she will pay closer attention to them for a bit to see if she can hear something.
Yes keep us posted and you are w.elcome.

I lerk on the board but I have been on momzone for years. I have triplets that are 12 and all three have autism. No im not saying your child has autism but if the teacher says hes not learning these things at school and hes not seeing things like this on tv then Id have him tested for the spectrum. Some children on the spectrum act like this and lash out because your not understanding hte point they are trying to get across. . I wish you goodluck and keep us informed
