Their Eyes Were Watching God

Did any one else see this show last night?

I don't usually watch stuff that is hyped this much before hand, but because of Oprah's involvement with the project, I took the chance. The movie was so good. I can't imagine anyone but Halle Barrie in the lead role. Now, I don't know if I want to read the book or not, because of how much I enjoyed the movie. We all know how rare it is for a movie to be as good as the book...so as good as this movie was, can the book really be that much better? I'm not sure that I want to find out.

If you didn't see it on its premier, and get the chance to see it at another time, I recommend it as a beautifully told love story.

I didn't know that Eatonville was a real place. Although I would think the story was fiction by the way it was told, now I am left wondering. I may have to read the book just to find out if it is the story of a real person - or entirely fiction.
What a life that woman had - and so much like many women today.
I agree, if it comes out on DVD at a reasonable price, I will try to get a copy for my library. There were a lot of lessons in the story that I learned by personal experience that I would rather have learned from reading the book.
