One way to stop from buying everything in the store
is to keep yourself from wandering throughout every
aisle. Make a list before you leave home and just
go down the aisle your list tells you to. This way
you will avoid buying unnecessary items.

By the time I am ready to go to the grocery store, I HAVE to go down every aisle.
I had the bright to start sending my husband when I just need milk or bread or something like that...he is WAY worse than me. He will easily spend $20 on junk. It's a very hard discipline to learn, just getting what you need when you run in for just a few things...so I just don't go. If I forget it when I go, we just do without. Otherwise I'd spend another $25-$30 for a trip for bread.
I normally buy in bulk and that way all I need to buy is milk, cereal and eggs. All the other stuff will last for about 2 weeks to a month. I also make menus so everything I buy in bulk gets eaten and used. It took me years to get it right but, I did it. Now I wish I could do it for clothing and shoes. I love shoes. We go to TJ Maxx for one thing and wind up spending a lot on things we like. Mostly my husband he is into shirts and boy does he have about 100 easy. Me is shoes. Since I gained weight I can wear heels but, that is an incetive to lose the weight.
