In about six weeks, I, a small town girl who has never been out of this country, will be boarding a plane in Chicago and flying for 14 hours to Tokyo and then Bankok and then to Laos for a 13 day mission trip.
The 13 days in Laos doesn't frighten me as much as being inside a flying metal object for 14 hours.
Can anyone tell me what to expect on such a long flight or have some tips on what I should bring.
WOW! You are sure a brave, wonderful person. The longest plane trip I have ever taken was about 6 hours from California to Virginia with two small baby girls who were 2 1/2 and 6 months. The best thing that I did was to pack the following things in a carry on bag:
1 CD player w/headphones and a few good CD's 1 good book to read a small package of tissues a small package of baby wipes some saltine crackers bottle of water clean pair of underwear and socks in case my luggage got lost
It was a long flight with a difficult landing but as long as I did not dwell on it, it was fine. There is nothing like looking down and seeing the earth below you. It can be quite fascinating. GOOD LUCK!!!

I would also take some hard candies. Sucking on them can with the pressure change when taking off and landing and just incase there is any motion ness during flight they can also.
