potty training sucks!!

I have a 7 yr old son who is Autistic. He dosent talk but likes to sing and do puzzles. He is a wiz at them. But he is still not potty trained and that is waring me out. Only because I also have a 3 yr old is not potty trained. Don't get me wrong and I have tryed to get them to go in the toilet but it just hasnt happened yet.
I guess I'm wondering if any one can relate with any of this I would like to hear your input.

Hi Jewels. I'd like to first say that I am not a mother (hope you guys don't mind). I am not even a female. I'm an 18 year old male who has a little brother who is slightly "mentally handicapped" (he's able to perform normal everday tasks almost as well as his peers yet lacks basic mechanical skills).

He's 12 as of now. It wasn't exactly difficult to potty train him at his younger ages but even to this day we notice that he is using too much toilet paper to clean himself and often clogs the room. He still needs a few pointers every now and then.

I'm not exactly sure if this makes you feel any better but I know how frustrating it can be. I'm not familiar with autistic children but I want to say: just keep in mind that he needs extra devotion and making a big effort into seeing that he learns is important, whether the learning occurs slowly or quickly.

Just wanted to reassure you that you're not the only one.
Good luck.

I have a 13 year old son who is profoundly autistic..he doesn't talk either. He is not potty trained at all, I just couldn't imagine where I would begin trying. He has some mental recognition, understands basic commands and questions, but what else he understands is still not clear.

I don't have any tips for you but I can relate. It really is hard. My only comfort is that A) he RARELY ever p while at school and B) his aide is PRECIOUS and is an absolute Angel when dealing with him. She loves him like he was her own. Truly.

(((HUGS))) If I can in anyway, let me know. My son is autistic secondary to Tuberous Sclerosis.

My son has mild autism he has asthbergers and was just diagnosed a few months ago just been ing with the school for extra and such for him in school. He was hard to potty train and it took me a long time and sometimes now hes going to be 9 and he still forgets sometimes wh en hes really into something and he uses toilet wipes its easier other than that he uses a hold roll of tp I would say consult a specialst or his dr and ask what they think.
