Talking Add/adhd?

Dear mothers,
My name is tamara 28. I have a 3 year old named michelle. for a while now she has been showing defanit sighns of add. i myself was diegnosed with this as a child and had to go on ritlin for many years. i was looking in my baby book and saw the phcoligest report and a lot of thing that he said ed out at me. my daughter always runs when she is trying to go places, she is very easly excided. she grindes her teeth in her . if it is somthing that she is intrested in she will do it without being asked. than if it is somthing that i want her to do she acts like she has no what i am saying. it also seems like she is not comprhending the diffrence between right and rong. like last night we always tell her to stay in the yard, right. well we found her in the middle of the street next to the highway. we live out of city limits out in the country but still. have any of you great moms been threw this and can you give me some advice about how to deal with this. i feel so guilty, because i have this and have passed it down to her.

thanks,
tamara

I have triplets they all have it they were diagnosed at different times in there life but 3 year olds run everywhere if its a problem. I put a harness on my kids and made them walk with me it was better than them bolting out into traffic. I had to teach them to sit and eat and such it s just telling them and showing them over and over if she gets up sit her back down and keep doing it . and the harness s too makes it easier to go places they cant run into traffic if you have health insurance or a clinic other wise take her to the dr and speak with them and have her looked at by a professional my kids all saw a therapist a nureologist and such.. trust me I know its frustrating keep your chin up. make sure too the dr wanted me to make sure they were not having soda or too much juice and junk food because some dies in foods can trigger its actually and allergy effect to acting like that too . Email me direct if you ever need to talk and dont worry as time goes on it gets a little easier to work with them for now its more a safety issure for her not to run too far ahead people grab kids too thats another reason I used the harness the one that goes on the body not the wrist.

Red face

Free,
I know excatly what your going thru! I have the same problum with my girls! They are both ADHD! My oldest was really bad when she was younger she was always everywere and so hard to get her to go to bed. Now that she is older she has semaed to grow out of it. She has her days were she gets out of hand. But she is much better and not on any meds.
Now my youngest she was fine when she was little such a sweet girl, and as she got older she has been so bad mouthy, lazy and just out of hand she beats on her sister. She always has to have the last word. She was on meds but around nov she started to get very ill not acting like herself and always tired. So we have taken her off the meds.
I am ADD I found out when i was 22 and pregnet with my youngest. I always new there was something wrong with me but never could figer in out. I have a hard time rembering, learning, spelling and being around people. I always feel that they don't like me and that i am not wanted. I always feel alone, misunderstud and shut out. I have more things going on then ADD!
There are many web sites for ADD/ ADHD there are Chadd groups and other groups to you and your child's! I us to have a ADD web site up but since no one had been there in so long i got rid of it.
But don't lose hope there is out there. And people that understand your fustrain and pain.
Never blam yourself that your kids are this way. Its not your falt and its nothing you can or could have ed not happen. All you can do is try to understand were there coming from and try to look at it from a ADD way of life.
I have learned that with ADD i do and say things i should say, I know better but my mouth works faster then my mind. I can put my foot in my mouth fast! And then feel really bad about it after i have stelled down.
So know your not alone in this battle with ADD/ADHD!

tracie,
I have looked up on the web some great sites about add/adhd. it gave me a genral list of things that i need to ask michelles docter about the issue. i have seen a lot of things that she is doing lately that once agin reminds me that i am doing the right thing for her.my mother has faxed me the docters notes from when i saw the docter and phycologhest and i was readuing threw it. my mom allway's said that pay backs for me being such a rambunches child were going to come back and bite me in the ass.i was diegnosed at age 7 1/2. but frome what i was reading they start to show sighnes at the earlest age of three. thanks for all your incuraging words. i don't feel so alone about this issue any more. it is good that other moms have gone threw this and can give me there advice about what works and what dose not.

See I Have ADD and I was a very layed back Child I would sit around more and stay in my own little world. I was slow in learning and just not very good at making . At least that's how i felt.
I am still a loner. I don't get out much and mingle like most people do I don't work well with others. and hate being told what to do! (my kids have this trat)
My oldest is ADHD and when she was 2 she was into everything it drove me nuts and the doctors would no check into it till she was 5 when she was in headstart she was very ruff with kids. and had a temper. Now that she is older she has changed so much like she grow out of it. She still has a on going IEP with the school (good thing to look into when you kids get in school) Its special ed for them. We are looking into it for my youngest her being in 6 greade now it is going to take longer for her to get it and she is falling her classes this year. I am hoping she does not have to be held back!
My youngest had seen the doctor tuesday and well not much got done with it. He wants her to see a pycartis fun fun now trying to find one for her to see there is not many around there. I should be seeing one to but i just have not found one!
I wish you luck in you such for ! Also see if you have a Chadd group in you area http://www.chadd.com its parents with children with ADD! they can be very ful! Good luck
