I have been going through a struggle with getting my son the program he needs. He aged out of his school 2 years ago. I asked to be given the education he needs and I was always ignored. I decided to take matters into my own hands. I told them I would go to the media if nothing was done. I waited for a new EIP and I hit them with my demands. I was sent to a private school to look at it and they accepted my son. I was told that there is a letter I was going to need, it's called a Nickerson letter. I was told that I it was unlikely that I got it. Well, I got the letter and today I got the approval for my child to go to the private school. Now the New York City Board of Education will pay for all expenses including transportation to his new school. I gave them hell. I was not taking no for an answer I feel so good now most of my stress is gone.

Congratulations on winning your hard & long fought battle to gain what was rightfully yours anyway and the best part is their paying for it. Private schools are for the most part much much better then public schools.
