I hope everyone had a really great fourth of July.... As for us we had a great time at the fireworks.......We had a small BBq.... The weather wasn't so great, and the kids couldn't go in the pool..... They were mad I wouldn't let them, but got over it quick when I brought out the paint set...All went well.... Mickie, sounds like you've been busy and having fun, that's great! Sounds like you had the same kind of weather we did.
DeeDee, you are right, finding a home of any sort is not an easy thing to do. We went and looked at a house yesterday, again. We have looked at this one several times. We like it but it is soooo expensive, but we are going to have to do something.

Here is why, about a month and a half ago we got a letter from our power company saying they want to put a new power line through WV to supply power to parts of the east coast, and they will be going through our property. Of course they will give us "fair market value" for our property, NOT. What they consider fair is not always fair. Anyway, they started out saying it was going to be 200 feet wide, now it is 2200 feet wide. If it goes through we might have about 25 feet left. Which means NO HOUSE! Now we have a trailer that we built onto on both sides and put a new roof over the entire thing and have been remodeling room by room and now it is like a house but they will not see it that way, anything to get out of paying enough money to buy a new home of this size. Also we have 19 acres and we will never be able to afford to buy that much on whatever they give us. To make matters worse, they will be making every Allegheny power co. customer pay an extra 90 cents a month to pay for this line! And this will not benefit WV in anyway!! And if we don't want to sell they will take it anyway! We are

ing it of couse (community meetings across WV and petitions, letters to the powers that be, etc. ) but from my meager experience in town politics, I know that they will do what they want, they are just going through the motions of pretending to listen to the people. We have been thinking of moving for a while, been looking at houses in the town we were thinking of moving to but had decided that we really love our location, our privacy, being able to see all the wildlife we get to enjoy by living in the country. So we were going to build a new home here and now it is being taken from us. We will not have a choice if this goes through. How is that fair? We paid for our property, have paid taxes for years on this property and now they can just kick us out?

Wow Polly, that just isnt' fair at all what they are trying to do to you. My grandparents here had a farm with a lot of acreage too and the pipeline was going in and right through their property. There was no fuss or anything, they gave a very good price to my grandparents for the land they took and all was accepted by both parties.

As for the house you bid on, I hope you get it if its what you want. Some people put a high price on just to see if they will get it. They always say, start high and you can then come down. I know here, they will come down at least $5000 sometimes more but not much more.

. It will actually boil down to what the Public Service Commission decides now. The man who was at the meeting answering our questions was the public advocate for the PSC. He seemed genuinely concerned for us. I believe he will give a good report for us but I don't know how much that will

. He encouraged us to continue to write the PSC to let them know how much it will affect our lives if these lines go through. I was confused on some points so I need to try to find out more answers. At first the line was 200 feet wide, then we were told 2200 feet wide , which if it is that wide will take out the majority of our property, but last night when questioned on that he said it is only in rare cases that they go that wide, only if they hit an area that there may be something in the way so they veer off path. But I'm just not sure on that.

As for the house we are going to hold off bidding on it, we were supposed to go fill out the paper work tonight but as I said before, I think it would be a mistake to move until we have to, just as you said!

We will not have a final decision from the PSC until next April. So I guess if we have to move we will start looking then, because of course it will take some time to do the work to get the lines through so we would have time.
