Hi Ladies, I need your fast! I am looking for a spaghetti sauce recipe that is actually more brown in color versus a red sauce. I hope someone knows what I am talking about.
Dallas, I am SOOOOO happy to see you back. You are an amazing woman! I have never heard of a brown sketti sauce but I will dig through my books. I will post back if I find anything! Good luck! Soooooo glad you are back!

DallasAlice1,
It isn't a special recipe sauce. It is a homemade spaghetti sauce that cooks in a slowcooker all day. Simmers and just gets better and better.

Share love and it grows; share sorrow and it lessens.
1 pound Penne pasta
1/4 cup olive oil
1 large onion, chopped
4 cloves garlic, minced
2 15-oz. cans crushed tomatoes
1/2 pound Canadian bacon or smoked ham, diced
1/2 tsp. crushed red pepper
2 cups frozen peas
1 cup heavy cream or half and half
1/2 cup vodka
1/2 cup Romano cheese, grated
Saute onion and garlic in olive oil until just golden brown. Add tomatoes, Canadian bacon, crushed red pepper and peas and cook for about 5 minutes. Add cream and vodka and cook an additional 5 minutes. Meanwhile boil pasta until cooked al dente and drain. Serve sauce over pasta and sprinkle with Romano cheese.
The Skinny: Use evaporated milk or low fat half and half instead of cream. We are not aware of a substitute for vodka. If you cannot have any alcohol, just leave out the vodka or substitute an equal measure of apple cider.
dallas, I have never personally tried this one but thought it sounded different from any I have ever seen. I will keep looking.

Thanks Lulu for thinking of me. I can't wait to give this a try but to waste Vodka on a sketti sauce hmmm!! I like my Vodka with my Kahlua but thats a totally different post!
I put Brown Sugar in my Spaghetti sauce and it makes it more brown - another twist - cut up zuccinni into half moon slices and put it in - get your veggies covered and I have had great reviews on it...
When you cook your noodles... stir in some butter so it lightly coats the noodles and then sprinkle Parm. Cheese in and stir - this is without the sauce.... mmmm yummy ~ Spaghetti is sounding good for dinner tomorrow... :-)
