Smoking Cessation using Cold Laser Therapy

Cold Laser Therapy to Quit smoking cigarettes is being used from around 22 years in Europe and Canada, but it has gained popularity in the rest of the world only since past 4-5 years.

Cold Laser Therapy is yet another technique used to kick the tough habit of smoking. It is a modern form of acupuncture and has shown a success rate of four to five times that of other smoking cessation programs. Cold Laser Therapy is also known as Low Level Laser Therapy or Low Power Laser Therapy. The term Cold Laser stands for the use of low intensity laser beam or low levels of laser light. The laser beam is targeted at the energy points on the human body. Targeting the laser beams causes the release of natural chemicals called endorphins. Endorphins calms and relaxes the body and thus reduces craving for cigarettes and s deal with the withdrawal symptoms which arise when one begins to quit cigarettes. Some laser therapy patients report a feeling of euphoria after the treatment. Besides stimulating the endorphin release, the laser treatment also s the body to detoxify the nicotine present in the body. The sooner the nicotine thrown out of the body, the easier it becomes to deal with the withdrawal symptoms.

The types of laser used may vary. The technicians generally use the acupuncture points of the body like ear, face, hands and wrists. The treatment is completely safe and the laser is absolutely safe. But the FDA is yet to declare about the effectiveness of this method to quit smoking.
