Here is a story that is going on here in my town, in Massachusetts.
At a Catholic Elementary school they just fired a Teacher who has been there 5 years. She teaches 6 Grade.
She is Catholic and has 2 kids, one 5 years old (who attends the School) and a newborn. The Teacher & her Preschooler are Catholic, but her Husband is Protestant. They baptised the Preschooler in her faith and the Newborn in his, and for THIS she has been fired!
The school says she has not honored her contract. In the contract she is to "uphold & practice" her religion.
I THINK THAT STINKS!!!!!!!!!!!!and im catholic you know what in t he old days they always said whatever the mothers religion is thats what the child wil be baptised in. I think as long as she is practicing her own religion that she teaches day in and day out what she does with her children at home is her own business and no one elses.
I dont think they should be able to do that. Of course If I was sendimg my children to a catholic school i would expect the teachers to be but her own family should not be held acct. one child is catholic and maybe the husband really felt strongly one child be his . I feel really bad for her
I totally disagree with her being fired. If they had issues like that with her, they should have fired her when she married a Protestant! Looks like they were just looking for an excuse to let her go. How silly! What are they going to do next? Search all the teacher's purses to see if they are using birth control pills?
they are making so much over something that is simple
goodness, at least they baptismed the kids, period
Catholic or Protetant, it's still the same God, similar faiths

This is what the Lord asks of you; only this, to act justly, to love tenderly and walk humbly with your God. Micah 6:8
He said to me, "My grace is enough for you, for in weakness power reaches perfection" 2 Cor 12:9
I am sure she could sue them. With all the trouble the Catholic church has been faced with as of late, they should be trying to stay out of the media's attention, instead of drawing more negative publicity!
Whoever was in charge of this wasn't thinking with a clear head.

being Catholic, i would think the school should have been happy that she baptismed the kids, period
We all now how the press is with the church, sigh

That stinks!! Its the way of the world, but still stinks. Times are changing. You see a lot more couples that are different religions. It would be easier for the kids to both be the same as one or the other, but its totally up to the parents!! In all actuality.....she was baptized; that is all that should matter!!!!

I am amazed at that! I am sure she has a case to sue for wrongfully being fired. That is unreal. It is hard to believe in these times people can act like that. Please keep us updated as you find out information, Chris. Thanks.
