Help! My daughter won't eat anything good for her!

Help! I am at my wits end here....sooooo....if any of you fellow moms have run into this situation, by all means let me know what you did that worked for you....

Ok, here's the situation in a nutshell....my daughter despises fruits and veggies all of sorts (minus corn). I have tried everything and can't get her to even eat apples, oranges, nothing! I have two other children and they'll both eat whatever we have as far as fruits and veggies, but I've read article after article on how to disguise this food, make it fun, etc. etc. and that's not working. She's 8 and knows all too well.

I have tried the old "your not getting up until you eat them" and it didn't work. She got 5 minutes later and I felt absolutely horrible. Her diet is wayyyy to full of carbs such as noodles, noodles, noodles (whether it's mac and cheese, spaghetti o's, etc.) and I'm afraid she's not developing healthy eating habits for now and the rest of her life. She just won't eat anything...not even Pizza, spaghetti (doesn't like the sauce), not any meats, nothing! She won't eat lunch meats, steaks, pork chops, en, etc. and it's driving me .....

I've been making separate dinners for this child for over 8 years. Any suggestions on how you all have handled the pickiest of picky eaters would be appreciated!:(

Thanks in advance,
Angela

My 2 1/2 year old is that way. Has been from day 1. She refused a bottle- then baby food. Now she only eats waffles, en nuggets, pizza and junk. Only drinks water or soda. If I am lucky she will sometimes eat peanut butter on toast w/ tons of jelly, sausage and yougart.
She will gag and throw up any veggie or fruit.
Our doctor said not to worry- give a multi vitiman.

Wish I knew of a trick but I don't. Sorry! Just know you are not alone!

I am to get those kind- if she likes them she may want to eat them all. I am so over the fits. She hates the Flinstones.

My 2 year old mostly drinks from her sippy cup all day and doesn't eat much food. She does eat a variety of things though so I can't complain and the doctor said she would grow out of wanting her sippy all the time.

But your daughter is 8 so I would at least discuss it with her doctor to make sure she is getting everything she needs.

Have you tried every fruit because, I had one of those and she eats strawberries now and bananas. All my children like to eat cooked broccoli they eat it raw and it has to be with ranch or creamy italian dressing. When you go take her and where the fruit is concerned let her make choices. Ask her to try a very tiny piece to see if she likes it. Go slow once she is out with as she gets older, remember peer pressure, she probably try other things. I am 48 and no one in this world would make me eat apples, I would eat them in a pie and that is very rare. Raw apples no way. I also hate peas. So you see we all hate something or the other we tend to grow out of it. Try the gummy vitamins, I lock mine up and give them one a day. I hope this s.

same with my son

sounds like jesse and i know it is because i started making separate meals for him when he was young... he does though at least love fruit.... the only veggies he will eat is corn and sometimes raw carrots with dip. but all mainly carbs

I just try to make sure that when he has things like bagels and english muffins that there is ALOT of peanut butter on it for protein and lots of jam as he likes strawberry jam.

Does she like cheese? How about yogurt? Chocolate Milk? At least she will get protein from those and good vitamins.

Will she eat the spagettios with the meatballs? another good way to get protein in to them.

Ya know- the more I think about it... can you make smoothies? I have two differant kinds.
1- with ice cream and fruit
2- with yourgart and fruit

I just made one the other day with rasberry sherbert (SP?), rasberries, strawberries, honey, and vanella yourgart. It was good. Brooke only took a few sips- but that is better than none at all.

This way you can get a little fruit in her. Oh use frozen fruit- it makes the smoothie batter texture and .

My son is 2 years, 3 months and used to be a great eater but has become so fussy!
He likes cheese & yogurt, and also cereal (like Cheerios) and a lot of those are vitamin fortified, also there is the "Kids'" Orange juice, with extra vitamins. If you are doing a smoothie you could sneak some Pediasure (liquid shake w/ vitamins) in it?
I hope I ed! Just remeber every bit counts! Also if you eat healthy they are supposed to model you, or so they say!

Well I have a nine year old the same way. From day to day I swear her taste buds change. My kids aren't junk food eaters they just eat the minimal. They eat like mice (sometimes all day long). I give them those vita balls! Its a vitamin in a gumball!! I have fought through all those vitamins out there and it was a killer trying to find one they would eat. Don't worry about these they aren't the greatest for taste so they won't want to have them all but they sure have fun chewing away at them. They were giving free samples on their site www.vitaballs.com

The smoothie drink is the greatest for me and at the heath stores you can get a smoothie supplemental mix that is full of all the nutrients that they need. It seems to work for us, hope it can .

My two cents....

First of all you've gotten some pretty good suggestions here so far. The smoothie one really is clever, as she'll probably think of it as more of a dessert or treat, and not give any thought to what's in it.

My kids eat fairly well. (4,3, and 1). The only real bad eating habit we started with them was making them separate meals. They still eat a good variety of everything and LOVE fruits and veggies, but I would give anything for them to eat what we eat. I really hope there's a day when I can make ONE dinner for everyone and not worry about someone going hungry.

Ok, that said, the biggest thing I do/did to get my kids to eat fruits and veggies is offer them CONSTANTLY. The doc told me that kids sometimes need to try things up to 15 times before they take to them. It's annoying and frustrating, but I try to do it anyways. Every week after I get home from grocery , I wash and cut ALL my veggies and fruit. The veggies go into a veggie tray, with or without dip in the center, and between meals, that tray goes on the table for snacktime. Their ONLY choices for between meal snacks come from that tray. So, they just sort of "graze" all day. Fruit goes into a big fruit bowl, unless it's like apples, pears, etc. They get cut-on-demand. We treat fruit as a dessert or appetizer while they wait for me to finish dinner. Fortunately, fruit has never been an issue. They've always liked it. Veggies took time, but now I'm happy with how much they eat. As a matter of fact, I even have to "hide" the tray sometimes or they'll eat too many and get stomachs.

Hang in there. I hope it gets better for you.

April

I have heard & read & been told that Kids need to try new foods 10-15 times to see of they like them. This seems crule to me! I know I hate Lima beans, and no matter how many times you give them to me, Honey, I am STILL gonna hate Lima beans! ha

Thumbs up Picky Eater

Okay, my son has been a very picky eater since he was born.
He will NOT eat meat, never has liked it not even baby food.
So we feed him peanut butter, cheese, and you all know the
rest....carbs.....so he's 8 now and I took a part time job at the
mall at Vitamin World. I have learned so much: Here is his favorite
thing in the world, and it is full of great things for him.

Put the following in a Blender (same order or it's very messy)

8 oz milk
1/2 scoop Soy protein powder (I use Vanilla and it's a GMO)
I open a capsule of GABA pour it in (great for their brain function)
1 tbsp liquid Calcium/Magnesium (their growing bodies need this)
You can add a liquid multi vitamin here as well just follow the recommended
amount.
MIX, then add
6-8 frozen strawberries
a banana if you like (will make it more creamy and thick)
frozen blueberries
mango
whatever kind of fruit you like - I use frozen because then I do not
usually have to add ice. You can do a different fruit a day, my son has fun
trying to guess what kind I put in today!
Then there is the Secret ingredient!
1/2 tsp Sugar Free Jello Pudding (this gives it that sweet flavor that they love)
Liquify and pour!

My son thinks I use Ice Cream--of course I don't!

hope this s someone!!
