Thrush

Anyone heard of it? I guess my little Emma has it. It's what a nurse told me (the nurses that goes to people's houses). She told me to keep putting the diaper rash cream I put on Emma to make it go away. I thought it was just a normal diaper rash, but she said that the s also mean Thrush. She said Emma has it in her mouth. It is white I guess and I don't know how to get rid of it there. The nurse said to keep breastfeeding and I am, but is there another way how to get rid of it? Emma has been screaming her head off a lot and it's driving my husband and I insane!

Natalia, I have heard of it but none of my kids ever had it. I am not sure what to do for it. Maybe you can do a search for thrush on google and see what you come up with.
I hope it gets better soon, poor Emma must be so uncomfortable too and the only way they can tell us is to . Poor thing, they are so less when they are tiny but I know its hard on the nerves for the parents too. That is why they have grandma's I guess.

Definately keep breastfeeding. The thrush on your baby's bottom will bother her, so keep using that cream. If it spreads to your nipples, it will hurt, so try to get it under control. I'd see a doctor, as they can give you stronger creams. They may even recommend an OTC yeast medicine. That's what thrush is- a yeast infection. BUt I'd see your pedicatrician or OB/GYN (if it spreads to your nipples). There is a genetian violet remedy, too, but it's very staining and the OTC yeast meds seem to cure almost all.

Good luck and keep us posted how it's going!

Natalia, I have heard of it but don't know of any other advice to give than what the other ladies have said other than to keep her mouth wiped out often. I would definitely see a dr. I never knew they could get it on the bottom too. I know you and your DH are probably both very tired. Having a new baby in the house makes you tired but when they are on top of it, it is very exhausting. I know my youngest DD was born with a cleft palate and reflux so it seemed like she cried the first 10 months of her life constantly. But thrush will go away much faster and soon you will all be on a schedule and be able to get some rest. My advice is to get family and to whenever they can. Even a small nap will you both! And it is ok to take some time for yourself once in a while. If you are relaxed , Emma will be too. Hang in there Sweetie, you will get through this and have so much fun with your beautiful little girl.

You guys know the tea Camomel (sp?)? It sounded like caramel to me, but my god mom talked to a friend of hers and she is a doctor and she said that giving it to Emma will with the gas, the thrush in her mouth, and when we need to wipe her cute bum, put the tea on the cloth and it would with the s as well.

What have you all used with your kids to with this kind of stuff?

Well, my girls didn't have thrush but my youngest used to break out horrible on her bottom, etc. and I would put corn starch on her and leave the diaper off for a while several times a day to let the air get to her bottom and that would clear her up. I finally figured out that any juice or kool-aid that had the red coloring would break her out. Boy did she get it bad too!

My oldest would get diaper rash from time to time and I used desinex and it worked great but it didn't my youngest dd so that is why I did the corn starch.

Good luck.
