I am beginning to learn that it is the sweet simple things of life which are the real ones after all.
My all time favorite authors are Max Lucado, Rosamunde Pilcher, Dick Frances and Tolkien. I am always in a perpetual cycle of rereading favorites along with my library books!

I love classic books. I have read a few of the Charles Dickens books, like Great Expectations, the Pickwick Papers, and a Tale of Two Cities. My fav was a Tale of Two Cities.
I also read Lorna Doone by R.D. Blackmore. It is kind of like Charles Dickens. That was an awesome book, very hard to put down. It is a wonderful love story.
I also like Leon Uris books, Exodus, Mila 18 as well as others I can't remember right now.
I was not much of a reader when I was young, so I don't remember what my favorite book would have been back then.
I love the Harry Potter books, but my absolute favorites have to be any of the Xanth series by Piers Anthony. They are wonderfully punny! (yes I spelled that right) The puns fly! I think there are over 20 books in the series now and they will keep you ing all the way through!
I am ing to pass on my love of reading to my son who is almost 12 now. He also loves the Harry Potter books!
He has also joined Junior Great Books, it is a middle school book group that reads some wonderful works that they get to keep. They have 7 books for this year, one of them is the Hobbit. It is great because of the variety of books/genres they read and discuss. I find it hard to believe the differing opinions that this group of 11-12 year olds brings to the group after reading a book. It's great to see it! (the best part is that I get to read them when he is done with them!)
Sorry, a little off subject... but I would recommend the Junior or Senior Great Books program to anyone that has good readers from 10-18 years old.
