Has anyone been to see Lemony Snicket?

Has anyone been to see the Lemony Snicket movie yet? I am interested in seeing it, and would love to hear about it from someone who has seen it. I have always wanted to read the books, but haven't gotten to it yet.

I was wondering the same thing. I would like to take my seven year old to see it if it is not too scary. I could not tell from the previews.

We went and saw it last week. We took 4 kids with us ages 4, 6, 7, and 9 and it them. I really dont think that it is a kids movie. If I would have known that it was like that i never would have taken them to see it. But that is just me. I really didnt care for it either. If you do go and see it let me know what you think!!

great movie

I took my 10 year old and we both loved it. BUT... he has read all 11 books in the series and I knew what they were about because ALL the kids in his class have been reading them and I listen to book reviews in his class.

Remember, that the movie is rated PG for a reason. It isn't for young kids, even with a parent. The books are geared for kids that are probably ages 9 and up or more. It is definately not one for younger kids.

These books are a great/popular literary read for kids. It also has an excellent lesson at the end of the movie about how even if horrible things are happening around you, you can still create a "sanctuary" if you are with the ones you love and count your blessings, which we all have.

We just got back from seeing it. It is a very good movie - but it is not for very young kids. It is about right for the tweens and middle school kids without boring the adults to death like a lot of other movies made for children. It is very dark, but not blatently violent. I loved how resourceful the children were and how it promoted reading for boys and science for girls.
Now I really want to read the books! Time to go to the library and reserve them.

I am grateful to those who posted about the movie. I have been contemplating going to see it but I think it can wait! Thanks, everyone!

Thank you all for your posts. I have decided not to take my daughter based on what you have said.

I find the PG rating frustrating as some movies that are PG rated are still OK for young kids to watch like Shrek. Good thing we have each other to out.
