New Harry Potter Movie

Does anyone else let their kids read the books or watch the movies? Nikki is wanting to see the new movie, she has seen the last two. She has to read the book before she is allowed to see the movie. She is currently reading the 5th book and rereading the 3rd book to refresh her memory.

When Bruinsmama was BruinsNanny, the girls read all the Harry Potter books. They were in 2nd & 4th grade. My DH & I have read them & seen movies. They are wonderful, I think but some parts in movie can be very scary.
I have heard that there will be 7 in all! And the author just had her first child! (or maybe she is still pregnant?)

I have read all the books. We own both of the movies that are already out. I am going to read the books to Shawn starting this summer. He loves the movies. He is 5 1/2 also. Does anyone know the date of when it is suppose to be released? I am already planning on taking him to see Spiderman 2. I want to take him to see atleast one movie a month as mommy, Shawn time so he doesn't get when the baby comes.

My kids have seen the first movie. I would not let them watch the second one as I felt it was just too much for them. I am extremely conservitive when it comes to letting them watch tv and movies and read. There are actually quite a few disney movies they have not seen because I just felt like it was not right for them. My DH says I am overprotective, but the way I see it, I only have ONE chance to get it right.

My 7 year old recieved the first HP book for Christmas this last year from a schoolmate. I have not let him read it yet and am not sure when I will. He gets nightmares rather easy.

But I sure loved both movies and I have read part of the first book. I am planning on reading it some more when I have time!

The movie comes out on the 4th of June. I think I will take nikki to see it if she does well in school. If not maybe after her next report card in the fall. it will be out a few weeks before we go. She handles things better than i did at her age so I dont think she will have a problem seeing it. I know she ed at the last movie when the snake came up across the screen. but then she was ok with it. she said she wasnt expecting it

I have read all the books and cant wait for the next one.

She just had her baby I think it was right before or around teh time that the 5th book came out.

I have seen in the news that some people are aginst the books/movies due to religious reasons.
I am but that seems foolish to me! They are works of fiction, and they do not advocate "Witchcraft" as a religion in any way! Perhaps these people should read the material? It may clear up their problems with it!

It seems to me the definition of ignorance!

I think the books have made children want to read and that JK Rowling is a gifted author!

Chris, I know what you mean before nikki was into Harry Potter it was a major battle to get her to read, now all she want to do is read. I dont think the books push witchcraft as a religion either. although my "brothers" wife wont let her kids read it because of that reason I feel they are missing good books because she doesnt want to take the time to find out about them.

I agree the books do not push anything at our kids We are all planning on seeing the movie in June after it comes out.

I couldn't't get my kids to sit down and read the books but they did listen to it on CD ...

My Becca cannot wait for book 6 right along with her dad and me!!!
When book 5 came out the only time they saw me move was to refill my ice tea or go to the room

I agree i will watch a movie before my kids see it but I also feel that if I discuss it before and after watching it they know they can form opinions that are there own and they can be unique individuals..

Also I believe this was her first child with her new Husband..

Gee Wouldn't't it be great if she was a MOM zone mom????

Saw the movie last weekend - it is good! But, totally different from the first two. The first two pretty much put the books onto film. This one presumes that you have read the novels and are very familiar with all the new characters it introduces. So, if you can re-read the book before going to see the movie. I am already waiting to get the DVD when it comes out so, we can see it again.
I understand why the kids in the movie liked this one - more action sequences for them. And there roles reflect that they are growing up at a very normal pace.
My daughter is currently reading the 5th book and looking forward to the 6th when it comes out. She will have to wait for her father and I to finish reading it before she may. My middle child really blossomed as a reader (now he reads everything) when he started reading the HP books. My eldest won't read then because they refer to witchcraft as real - he is extremely conservative in his religion.
