Well the big movie comes out today. Any one going today, or are you gonna wait a day or so?? They said on GMA some placse are showing it 24 hours. My son wants to go, we will go this weekend, when Dean is back in town.
If any one goes let us all know how it was.
My daughter and her husband our Youth Leaders at our church and they get to see it today.....here locally. They are taking the Youth Group, which is about 40....... I can not wait to see it on Saturday.
I would very much like to go see this movie but I'm not sure If I'll get to. Thadea, I understand your concerns. I wish all people were smart enough to know that we ALL put Christ on the cross with every sin we commit. Unfortunately not all people will admit this and they will use this movie and anything else they can to continue their hate. It is sad. This movie isn't about promoting hate for any reason. It is to show us just what it might have been like for Jesus during that time and just how much He loves us in order to do that for us. I wish all hate could be erased from this world.

Well I just thought I would let you know what my daughter and son-in-law thought about the movie. They went last night with the teens.
I literally cried (along with the rest of the audience) through the whole 2 hours of the film. It was a very emotional movie and very violent....but I feel that this was needed in order to correctly portray or depict the events that led up to Jesus' death. I found it to closely follow the Bible and I feel that God definately had his hand in the making of this film. It is a must see for believers as well as non-believers. This movie can make a difference in your life.
I saw the movie last night and am at a loss for words. I found myself trying to detatch from it because I did not want to be in any part responsible for putting Jesus through that. I cried most of the movie and am still processing today. It is very well written and portrayed. I left the theater silent, numb and greatful. I don't see that the movie inspired hate. But...some will use anything they can to feed theirs...sad.

I have not seen it yet, but my husband and I intend to. After reading about Mel Gibson for years, I cannot imagine he would deliberately want to cause anyone to hate Jews or anyone else. My personal feeling is he was called to do this and has done it as a way fo thanking God for the good things in his life. He knew going into it that he would face a multitude of critics and would almost have to go it alone. The fact that he used 25 million from his own pocket makes me think he had more than money in mind when he made the film. Although I am trying to brace myself for the graphic nature of the film, I have never felt hate about what happened to Jesus. I always tell my children: We were given the gift of Christmas because we needed the gift, (or sacrifice) of Easter. I want my older children to see the movie as well, but not my six year old. My older boys have said they want to see it. From the reviews here, one lady said it very graphically protrayed what Jesus went through for all of us. I really hope all the yelling about it and the worries about hate will stop soon. That will only happen if people see it and "get it". Just my own opinion.
I really want to see this movie. I'm not sure when I will be able to though. Maybe I will ask my mom if she wants to go with me. I have heard lots of things about it both good and bad. Of course most of the people I have heard criticizing it have never even watched it. I hate prejudgement. I have heard that is very disturbing and gorey from those that have seen it but also accurate to the bible. I think in order to be accurate it has to be gorey and such. How could it not be?

I'd have to agree with you Bellingsworth...I hate prejudgement also. Most critics that are running their mouths have not even seen the movie yet.
I'm looking forward to seeing it although I am a bit nervous about the violence. I'm not sure if I'll see it in the theatre or wait until it comes out on DVD.
I heard on the radio this that a woman had a heart attack in the theatre while watching this movie and she died...did anyone else hear that? I didn't catch where this happened.
I'm looking forward to reading everyone's review of the movie!
I heard the same thing. I don't know where she was from either since I didn't get the whole story but I was listening to Pittsburg news so I'm not sure if she was from that area or not. Is this movie going to come out on DVD? I'm not sure if I'll be able to get to the theater to see it or not. I'm afraid it will be sold out and won't get to see it. I'm going to take my 17 year old but not my 11 year old. She is too sensitive right now anyway and she can't handle very much violence or death. Besides I always like to see the movie before she watches anyway. But I really think from everything I"ve heard people say it is so worth seeing. Everyone says it is so close to the bible and that is rare. Thank you everyone for sharing what you've heard or seen or felt. I hope God blesses this and touches many hearts through this movie. I wish the press would quit talking about the hate issue. I think they are making worse by doing that.

I've written this letter three times, not being able to find any words to describe this movie. I plan on buying this movie when it comes out on DVD and I'll let Nick watch it when he's mature enough to understand it.
I don't understand how one person could hold so much hate let alone a large group as portrayed in the movie. I did not leave the theater hating Jews though because I believe every person controls their own actions. This movie should not invoke hate or confusion, the message of love was very clear. I hope that we all, myself included can hope to achieve the kind of peace and love Jesus gave his life for.

Thank you starlight, you are probably right. I was afraid I wouldn't get to go to the theater to see it and my luck it wouldn't come out on dvd or video for some reason or another.
tssv, for your comments on the movie. I think from what I've heard, it is hard for everyone to put into words what they are feeling after watching the movie. I hope also that it will teach us all to love more and judge less. It seems to be having quite an impact on everyone who sees it and so far it's been very positive.

I saw it and it was great. As a Christian it is a wake up call and the violence they talk about it is necessary it shows how much he endured for our sins. As a mother you feel for Mary all her son went through and could not do anything about it. There is a flashback scene where she sees him falling carrying the cross, and goes back when he fell as a toddler she dropped everything to hold him and tells him, "I am here" we all can relate to it. The movie made me realize the magnitude of Jesus. I will never be the same again. Good job Mel! You read the Bible and know that, he suffered but, thanks to technology we see it right there is not pretty and some people will cringe but is real and it did happened.
This movie comes at a time that we all need that swift kick in the rear and that tap in the head. If anyone uses it to commit act of violence against Jews they are just wrong. This movie is not about who did what to whom it is about believe it or not, love and endurance. The love He has for us and all the he endured for us. I will definitely buy it on DVD to show my children when they are old enough to see it. We are a "show me" society well, people Mel showed us all.
