I can't wait to see it either...it looks really good!
I heard on the news that it got bad reviews....but that's not going to stop me...I'll take the reviews from all you Mom's who have seen it over the critics on TV!

I heard the same thing Kricket, but we are still going to see it too!
Can anyone tell me why a movie that is supposed to be based on a book we read to preschoolers is rated PG, rather than G?
I haven't seen the movie, and I'm not all that impressed with what I've seen from the commercials. I janitor daycare facilities, and I was talking with one of the directors. The daycare usually takes the kids to see a movie as a field trip every few months. The discussion was what movie to take them to. The director refused to take the preschoolers to see The Cat in the Hat due to the sexual undertones.
Why is it necessary for Hollywood to add things like that to a kid's movie?
My 9 year old and I went to see this last weekend. I felt the exact same way.... sexual inuendos and they used hell and damn i believe in the movie.... plus had jokes where they "almost" said *ss and *hit
It really angers me that they had to do that... it could have been a much more wonderful movie and they could have kept it at a G rating.

Sounds like maybe I'll skip this one. I can't believe they have to ruin a childrens movie like that. Not everyone is sold on that kind of stuff in movies. Thanks everyone for your insight.

That stinks! Dorie told me the same as you said Momzone....too many swear words and sexual ineundos.....I really thought it was to be for the kids. :(
I didn't even know it was rated PG13 until Dorie told me.
Why would they do that to a beloved kids book?

OM! Your kidding! Chaz loved the movie but he went with his band class so I wasn't there! I had no what it was rated! Just assumed that it was PG! THis makes me kinda mad because you know that a bunch of 12,13,14 yr old kids understand the sexual undertones!!!

Ladies...I check out the movie poster at my local theater to check on the ratings for this movie. The poster says, "This movie is not yet rated."
The billboard at the theater says the movie is rated PG. I asked the guy on duty there if he knew why. He said he didn't know, but he heard that it was worse than PG.
So, I went to the movie website and checked the rating system. It says, "This movie is rated PG for mild crude humor and some double-entendres."
In other words, sex and foul language.
Anyway, if anyone wants to complain to Universal Pictures, here's where you can give your feedback
My Mom and I took my Kids last week to see this movie, And It was BAD!!! It is an ADULT Movie , Not a kids Movie . If I would have known ahead of time , we would have never waisted the money... And My Poor mom was horrified , which made me feel worse.. They really RUINED, This wonder classic book... I still like Mike Myers, But I am dissapointed he would play this part the way he did.... We will NOT Be Buying this movie when it comes out on tape...
