You know I am so I think I keep some stupid stuff. I was going through some boxes in my closet the other night and I found some stuff, like an old bookmark, on old letter from a friend that didn't tell me anything, a picture of my home ec. class that I hated. why do we keep this stuff??
I keep lots of stuff that my husband might consider sily. But I believe it is because it is a part of who we are. Every experience contributes to who we are becoming! A few weeks back I was going through some old photos and found a card my mom sent to me many years ago. It was such a precious memory, especially since my mom died last March. I could hear her saying the words as I read. I love those old memories
Tracee, i"m glad we're not the only pack rats around. I keep getting rid of stuff but it just keep multiplying anyway!! I go to my house and it always looks so clean and I finally realized it's because there isn't stuff all over the place like mine!!! Oh well, I'm destined to be this way, i guess. My hubby swears its all ours and not his. Oh get a clue, man. He has so much junk for hunting alone that I could fill a huge room full of it, only it's scattered through out the house and what do I do??? I buy him another gun cabinet for Christmas!! Ugh!! OH well, it made him happy!! Just thought I'd share my bad habits too!!!

I love to keep books. I have books that were given to me when I was still in elementary school. Whenever I move it is an ordeal to move all the boxes of books. There have been times when my books have been practically the only things that I could call my own, but I held onto them. I have some that I retreat to when I need a pick me up. I know the plots, and the endings, but it is nice to keep company with old from my past.
My favourite book for when I am feeling down is "Beauty" by Robin McKinley. A novel based on the fairytale Beauty and the Beast. Anyone that I have ever loaned it to has sat down and read it cover to cover in one sitting because it is sooo good. I had a roommate who missed an entire day of class because she couldn't stop reading it.
I have letters from a friend who has passed on, i have a lot of stuff, including the Girl Scout Ring that my Dad bought me when i was much younger (and a Junior in Girl Scouts), that i wear on my pinky now, it's old, but Dad bought it for me and Dad passed away last year

I'm also glad to hear that I'm not the only pack rat here. Were in the process of selling our house, so LOTS of stuff is getting pitched. Polly I hear you about the hunter stuff, mine is also. Also the books, ever sense I'm started getting books for my first boy (6 yrs old now) I've been getting them for me and also younger education books for when they get older. I was never into books, now we read them regularly. It is amazing what kids do to you.
somewhere in this house is a box of books, saved from when i was a child,

I save all kinds of stuff I am a pack rat too. I am bad to save cards or little notes that someone sends me that have a special message, especially the ones from my kids or grandkids. I have a special card from my mother-in-law whom I think of as a mother
i have a few things left that my MIL gave me, she was a dear woman who i miss a bit
