When our second child was on the way, my wife and I attended a pre-birth class aimed at couples who had already had at least one child. The instructor raised the issue of breaking the news to the older child. It went like this:
"Some parents," she said, "tell the older child, 'We love
you so much we decided to bring another child into this
family.' But think about that. Ladies, what if your husband
came home one day and said, 'Honey, I so much I
decided to bring home another wife.'"
One of the women spoke up immediately. "Does she cook?"

When I was the only female little league coach for my son Joey's team years ago I'd listen to the fellas blab about how they managed to be at the field a half hour early to practice cause their wives had dinner on the table, equipment packed and the uniforms washed, etc. - I can't count how many times I wished I had a wife too! LOL
If Mandatory, why not have her do all the Manual Labor. Housework, Dusting, etc. That allows the time for Me & DH to travel to all the Romantic Spots.......
