What song would you pick in church?

A minister decided to do something a little different
one Sunday

. He said "Today, in church, I am going to say
a single word and you are going to

me preach".

Whatever single word I say, I want you to sing
whatever hymn that comes to your mind.

The pastor shouted out, "Cross."

Immediately the congregation started singing in
unison, "The Old Rugged Cross".

The pastor hollered out "Grace". The congregation
began to sing "Amazing Grace, how sweet the sound."

The pastor said "Power". The congregation sang "There
is Power in the Blood.

The Pastor said "Sex." The congregation fell into
total silence.

Everyone was in

. They all nervously began to
look around at each other afraid to say anything.

Then all of a sudden from way in the back of the
church a little 87 year old grandmother stood up! and began to sing!..... "Precious Memories."

I love that story! I could not resist sharing it with you guys!

My favorite hymn is The Old Rugged Cross and Amazing Grace....followed closely by There is Power in the Blood and When We All Get to Heaven. I love my hymns...I guess that is why I found this joke so funny!

I love the hymns. You can't beat them. I have a friend who goes to a "modern service", and her kids ages 13 and down have never heard a hymn. I was floored! Even when we have the history of the songs, it means all the more to me. We have studied some of the hymns, and it's amazing what some of the writers have gone through! Enough for now!! Keep letting us know your fav. hymns.
