My fil has never been the brightest bulb on the tree, but today this takes the cake. He's watching our boys while my hubby works and I went to take the test for a new job. I get home earlier than expected and find my 5 year old home alone. I was irate. I wait for my fil to return home with my mil and 2 year old son and he's like I only left him for an hour. Then he starts into me like he always does because my house is less than perfect. I work a full 40+ hour week while my hubby works 25ish hours a week. And I am supposed to (according to my fil) do all of the housework, cooking, and , plus run everybody everywhere to their appointments and such, while my husband (according to my fil) is supposed to do nothing more than work even if it's only 25 hours a week. I am so .

Oh my I would like to come and really give it to your fil what would he have done if your son decided to go exploring outside and the neighbors saw that they would have called the police and they would have taken him away. What was he thinking didnt your mother in law say anything to him about leaving a 5 year old he must have been so to be in the house alone. Thank god nothing happened to him.
Misty, that is awful. Why couldnt' he take your son with him? If he had something that important to do then he should have told you he couldn't babysit.
I would have gave him one tongue lashing I tell you. I wouldnt' take that from him. You work hard and he should see that. Then on the other hand, its your hubby's father and I guess he is going to side with him no matter what.
I would have been very about this for sure.
O MY GOODNESS!! Someone knock some sence into him!! I'm sure he loves his grandkids but . Does your hubby say anything to him? He better stick up for you or he need to be slapped also. I'll send my hubby, he'll kick some butt. Anything for my Mom zone .

That 's awful Misty. Doesn't he realize what could have happened in that hour! That is outrageous and then for him to start on you about how you care for your house that was his way of trying to blame you instead of taking responsibilty for his careless actions.
If that were my FIL who did that or anyone else I would not let him near my children until at least he admitted what he did was totally wrong and irresponsible. He has a lot of nerve.
What did your MIL think of him not taking your 5 year old? And what did your dh think?

Misty, you poor thing. Sounds like you already have a full plate and to have to go through something like that is unthinkable. And it's true, your fil was just trying to devert from what he did by talking about your house. Next time tell him if he doesnt' like it he knows where the broom is and then use it on him. I hope your dh stands up for you. There is no excuse for that kind of behavior. I have connections in your area if mrsmaatmans husband can't make it , maybe we can find someone else to slap that man err, I use that term loosely . Hang in there hun and stand firm with your fil and your dh and mil. One of them had better do something , you did the right thing by telling him. We're here for you sweetie.

I really felt like hitting him, but didn't want to cause any more of a scene in front of my children. We are about half a mile off the main road and our nearest neighbors are about half a mile away on either side and nobody lives across the street. So he wouldn't be worried if my boy had ventured outside. My hubby just shrugged when I told him. He got irritated when I told him HE needed to speak to his father.

I would love to take you fil out to the wood shed for a talk! and your DH just shrugging he'd have been next in line. Its his son that was left alone you would think he would have been spitting bullets! I know I would have, No one messes with my baby's. no matter if they are family or not they come first. Hope you can get some since knocked into him before he does it again.
and if he doesn't like your housekeeping skills tell him to hire you a maid! you work hard! If he doesn't like that Idea tell him that your Dh needs to do a bit more since he had more time off it wouldn't hurt him to do something to you out.
OH MY AGAIN!!! Your hubby also needs a wooden spoon on the bear butt. That makes me so mad!!! I so agree he should stick on your side, also stop molding that couch and around the house . B&Smom you are a sweetie , you don't have to put up with that. Best of luck
My hubby is glued to the internet. When he's home he's always easy to find. Right in front of the computer!! He did talk to his nit wit father about not leaving our chilren home alone again. He didn't say anything to him about fil not talking to me so disrespectfully.
