Home schooling & Working

Hi!

I am a home schooler who is also self-employed. Anyone else here who is trying to do both well. At least my DD is 13, so my role is mostly as a facilitator of her education, but there are still areas where she needs instruction.

homeschooling

Hi LADYRE!

I do homeschool and work full time. I however am a reading specialist - teacher so it most of it comes easily (Except for the math)! I too am basically the facilitator - and get every aid possible to assist!!

I am not promoting a business - but I buy alot of aids from this company and they are a true blessing - Middle and High school math and science aids - history etc.... **Explained in very easy format!

Wow, you are a very dedicated mother. I odn't think I could handle homeschooling and working at home. I am at home working now, but just have my four year old and keep[ing him entertained for the two hours I try to get in every day while he is awake is hard enough! I can't imagine being bale to stay focused on anything if all three were home and needing to do something different -- agh! I would feel like I wasn't doing them justice as a teacher. My husband has approached me with the notion of me homeschooling our kids and I ed at the .

How is it going?

Michelle,
Don't feel too bad about not homeschooling. It is not for every family. Just like traditional education is not for everyone either. I am fortunate that my DD begged to be homeschooled AND that she is usually very responsible and reliable when it comes to getting her work done. (There have been a few times...)
It sounds like with the things that your children are involved with ( and dramatics) that you would have very little time at home if you did homeschool and therefore very little time to get any work completed from home.
Is it difficult to both homeschool and work? YES! But, almost everything we do today is seen as difficult no matter what it is. I think being a SAHM is difficult, and I know how much time it took out of my schedule when my DD was in public school, being a working mom is also difficult, and I really admire my who are single, working, homeschooling moms for what they are doing. I guess my point is being a good mom is difficult whether we add anything else to the mix or not.
