apple dumplings
6 apples
2 c. flour
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. baking powder
2/3 c. milk
sugar
cinnamon
butter
1/2 c. shortening
Sift dry ingredients, cut shortening in as for biscuits
add milk. Pinch into 6 pieces of dough. Peel and core apples.
Roll dough thinner than for biscuits. Using baking apples, put
1 on each piece of dough, fill center of apple with sugar, pinch
of cinnamon an butter. Pinch corner of dough up together over
apples.
Syrup:
1/4 c. butter
1 c. sugar
1 c. water
1 1/2 tsp. cinnamon
Bring syrup to boil, place apples in greased pan and pour
syrup over. Put in oven while apples are baking 4 or 5 times. Cook
45 minutes at 350f.
