For me to go on a plan like those, would never work. I can't stick to them. I went on weight watchers once and did lose weight but didn't stick to it for long. I did it on my own.
I tried another diet one time with my sister in law. I lost 8 pounds in a week and she lost 5 and quit. So much for me too then.
Now she is doing Herbal Magic or something and is losing weight like but she can afford that, I can't. So I just do what I can on my own.
I've done the WW points plan but what I was doing when I lost the first 41 lbs. was watching my calorie intake. I signed up for Sparkpeople.com and I use all their services ... I keep a food journal which keeps track of my calorie intake and I use the message board for support.
Good for you Mechele. That wouldn't work for me either. I need the support but need the oh what do you call it when you need someone to do it with you? the competition maybe? Whatever it is, I need it.
Did some walking today though, hubby and I went for a walk then went to the mall and walked some more. I got my today and will tomorrow at the cottage.
I agree!! I had a workout partner for my first 41 lbs. ... one of my neighbors ... we joined Cardinal Fitness but she reached her goal and bailed on me and I just couldn't manage to get up at 4:30 every all by myself in the weather so I ended up quitting.
DeeDee ... remember, I used to walk my "girls" (dogs) everyday. Well, one of them suffers seizures now and the other has a degenerative disk disease and she's slowly losing control of her back legs so we can't walk any further than two or three houses away. Just breaks my heart.
Aww so to hear that Mechele. I remember you walking the girls every day.
Hubby has started walking with me each day. We go around the block and it takes a while to do that. Its is though and then we go to the mall and walk around there. So I get that much anyhow.
I feel bad for her because she loves to go for walks. I have to put socks on her back feet and wrap tape around them so they don't shred on the sidewalk ... she hates wearing them.
We have a walking path that goes through our community and I keep saying I'll start walking while my husband is in the shower in the s and then take him with me in the evenings but it never quite works out that way LOL.
Actually, we took her to a vet specialist and were told she doesn't feel anything. It's like her legs are going numb and that's why she doesn't know she's using her legs. She never yips or yelps and I'm always grabbing her legs to make sure her placement of them is correct when she's lying down, etc. Just like if you were dealing with a person. She never complains that she's hurting. The surgery is just a ridiculous amount for a pooch that is going on 9 (surgery would be really hard on her) and doesn't guarantee she won't be worse than she was pre-surgery.
Agreed. I'm so though. The other night I had to give her a "happy pill" because one of our neighbors was setting off those BIG fireworks that you put in a bottle or tube and they make a whoosh and POP sound ... the life out of her. She was shaking so uncontrollably that she could barely stand. I gave her the med that s calm her down. Poor thing was so freaked out it didn't work until half way through the night. Yesterday she had so much trouble walking and she's still not back to where she was pre-pill. Her back right leg keeps crossing the left leg and now I have to have extra rugs all over the place because ANY tile or wood flooring she falls on. Her legs go out from under her and she's doing the splits and she struggles so much to get back upright. I HATE FIREWORKS!!!!!
Aww poor thing. Too bad there wasn't some way you could fix up some kind of splint like thing to her walk with the legs the way they should be. It wouldn't have to be a stiff splint I don't think but mainly to separate the legs so she could walk right.
