Tracee, You and I are in the same boat. my boat is sinking The dr. says I must cut my carbs in order to hold off type II Diabeties as he tells me I am Insulin Resistant heading straight for the big D. I am a carboholic I was brought up eating pasta and rice now having to cut them out is almost pure torture! have you read Dr. Atkins book? I am reading it now. i have cut back a lot on my carbs but still eat pasta, and no where near where I should be only about 50 a day. the average person eats way more than that. I know it its not easy to stick to any program especally when you love food. I to have lousy Will Power in fact its closer to none at all. I just take it one day at a time. some days are better than others.

Ok girls, I am learning about this carb thing too. I started the diet one day but didn't really have enough info and then got so I gave up after only 2 days. I have heard amazing weight loss stories about this diet. I have also heard horrible stories of people getting on this diet. Some even have developed fatal diseases. So I have the Atkins book but I'm still not sure what foods I can eat or not eat. UGH!!! I am having more problems giving up bread and potatos. I love the pasta too but can cut that out but I just haven't come up with a diet plan with this yet. I don't like alot of the food suggestions in the book so I don't know. And I don't want bacon and eggs for breakfast every day!! Maybe we can get everyone involved and people can start listing no carb or low carb foods so we can put together our own diet plans from what we like and don't like. What do you think?? Help!!!

Polly I think this is a great ! I know one veggie I love and that asperagus I bought a steamer for 20 at walmart (it does more like deep fry to but wont use that ) any way the book says you can have 12 stalks of asperagus and its only 5 grams of carbs. I love it because it looks like a lot and it fills me up! my daughter doesnt like it so much but she is coping. I figure if I try one or two lower carb thing a week and I like it maybe that will . I dont know still not sure what we can and cant eat on this diet some things have high carbs that I never even thought about like peas

HI ladies, I am not doing adkins, I am just trying to eat properly and watch my carbs.. It's been easyier than i thought... I drink a slim fast for breakfast, eat a small yogurt, fruit and or veggie for lunch, dinner i changed over to wheat rice and pasta, so I can still eat dinner with my family.. it's really not that hard. I have been trying to eat 3 meal and 3 snacks a day.. my snacks are fruit and veggies or yogurt, maybe a sand witch.. it's just about cutting carbs, not Stopping Carbs... Just think if you quit snacking on chips, s, crackers.. you would be cutting alot of carbs out of your way of eatting..

I have a friend that owns this site called carbs 101, here is the address, check it out, it may beable to you..

I am following a diet similar to Atkins, but I don't cut out all carbs. Once you get used to not eating them, it does get easier. Chips were the hardest for me to give up, but I have to eat a lot of protein, so I really don't have much room for carbs too. The protein does keep you feeling fuller longer, so you don't feel hungry all the time. That s, but it also s me to not buy them. Not even for my kids and husband. I also buy a lot of sugar free treats. Sugar free popsicles are basically a freebie and I love to grab one of those when I want to snack. Or if I want crackers, I make about 5 or 6 peanut butter on wheat crackers to snack on. Cheese is good too.

Going out to eat isn't much fun anymore though since sandwiches are harder to eat with having to remove most of the bread (although some restaurants are wrapping theirs in lettuce leaves). I usually get a salad. I don't eat enough veges so I don't worry about the carbs in those at all.

Good luck! It's tough, but healthwise my blood pressure has really gone down, so I guess it does work I used to be against this diet for the high fat, but you can choose low fat options such as low fat cheese and no fat dressings and such.

I had a hard time at first too, they had to send me a password in an email and you have to type it exactly like it is, caps or small letters. So I finally got signed up but I keep getting an error message that pops up on the screen and when I turn off the message as soon as I move my mouse it comes back up so I can't click on any threads to check it out. I am so frustrated, I would love to check the site out but can't.I get this error message alot but usually when I x it out it stays off but it won't at this site. Bummer.
