Amish Beef Stew

3 cups cubed beef
1 onion, cut into cubes
8 large potatoes, scrubbed and cubed
2 cups carrots, sliced
2 cups celery, sliced
1 cup tomato juice
1/2 cup flour
1/4 cup margarine
salt to taste
Put flour into a paper or plastic bag and shake beef and onion cubes to coat.
In a hot skillet melt margarine - brown beef and onions.
Transfer browned beef and onion cubes to a slow-cooker. Heat on low for 2 hours, then add vegetables and 1 cup tomato juice. Heat for 1 or 2 more hours until ready to serve.
Serve over noodles or rice.
