San Francisco Pork Chops ****
This is an awesome recipe. My sisters and I all make this at out homes and the kids even love it. The recipe calls for bone-in chops but I use those boneless loin chops (the litte cheap ones) and I ALWAYS double the recipe because we LOVE it. You can just double the recipe from the chops down for extra sauce. We also like to add fresh broccoli at the point where you add the cornstarch.
4 pork boneless pork chops
1-2 T vegetable oil
1 clove garlic, minced
1/3 c soy sauce (I use low sodium)
1/3 c red or white wine or chicken broth
2 T brown sugar
1/3 tsp crushed red pepper flakes (can omit)
2 T cornstarch (or flour)
2 T cold water
Hot cooked rice
In skillet, brown chops in oil on both sides, transfer to crock pot. Add garlic to drippings, cook and stir for about 1 minute. or util golden brown. Stir in soy sauce, wine/broth, brown sugar and pepper flakes; cook and stir until sugar is dissolved. Pour over chops. Cover and cook on low for 7-8 hours or until meat is tender. (I cooked on medium for 4 hours) Remove chops and set aside. Combine cornstarch/flour and cold water until smooth; gradually stir into slow cooker. Return chops to cooker, cover and cook for at least 30 minutes or until slightly thickened. Serve over rice. Serves 2 really hungry people or 3 kinda hungry people.
