Cheesecloth Ghosts (Halloween)
Materials:
A blown-up balloon
A large cup
Cheesecloth or gauze
Liquid starch
A large bowl
Wax paper
Black felt (optional)
Directions:
Balance the balloon in the large cup, then have a grown up cut a big enough piece of cheesecloth or gauze to drape over the whole thing with some extra at the bottom.
Put the cloth in the bowl and pour in enough liquid starch to cover it. Make sure all of the cloth is under the starch! Let it soak about 5 minutes. In the meantime, place the cup with the balloon on a large piece of wax paper.
Take the cloth out of the starch and let the excess drain back into the bowl. You can

this along a little with your fingers. Drape the cloth over the balloon and cup, letting the excess pool around the bottom (this will

it to stand). Let dry overnight.
Carefully remove the cloth from the base. If you want, you can cut a mouth and eyes from black felt and carefully glue them to the ghost. Set your ghost on a table or hang it with a piece of thread from the ceiling.
