Tips and Hints

Popped en grease is sometimes removed easily with Palmolive soap. Rub
soap into stains, then launder as usual.
Pewter wool is best for cleaning piano keys. It is similar to a fine grade
of steel wool and probably can be found at a jewelers or a firm selling
musical instruments. Do not use regular steel wool. Piano keys are made of
Ivory or plastic and a coarse abrasive would scratch them.
For black frosting for party cupcakes, add blue food coloring to your
favorite chocolate frosting.
If you don't like to wash pans after poaching eggs, try this. Take a square
piece of aluminum foil and shape it around the bottom of a glass tumbler to
make a cup shaped container. Break an egg into each "cup" and place cup in a
pan containing about 1-½ inches of boiling water Cover pan and steam eggs to
desired hardness over low heat. When eggs are served, "cups" are discarded
and there is no pan to wash.
To keep hamburgers from sticking, sprinkle salt in bottom of the pan.
Freezer wrapping paper on top shelves of freezers will make defrosting
easier.
For people who live in old houses that have weather stained glasses, they
can be cleaned usually with a good rust stain remover. (Whink is usually
mentioned first on the Open Line). Squirt a little on a paper towel and rub
it over the glass.
When you are washing delicate glassware and china, place a thick turkish
towel in the bottom of the sink or dishpan. It's a good way to prevent
needless chipping.
To remove dirt or grease from a rug, sprinkle corn meal on the area and
scrub with a stiff brush (dry). Then vacuum the area. The soil will
disappear without leaving a ring.
Put rubber washers under the two back legs of a sofa to prevent skidding on
polished floors every time someone sits down on it.
Prevent picture marks on your walls by sticking a thumbtack on each corner
of the back of the frame. Allow the tacks to extend about 1/8 inch. This
will allow circulation of air behind the frame and prevent marks.
When the phone rings or something else needs handling when you have messy
hands from baking, solve the problem of getting the phone messy by slipping
on a handy plastic bag over your hand.
Lemons that have become hard and dry may be restored to some degree of
freshness by soaking in lukewarm water overnight. Juice from lemons can be
extracted easier and you got more juice if you first place them in a bowl of
hot water after taking them out of the refrigerator.
When you bake a pie for your church or club supper, label it with alphabet
cereal. Just press the letters spelling out the kind of pie into the top
crust with the light touch of a rolling pin.
To remove nut meats whole, soak nuts overnight in salt water before cracking.

I have soaked paper towels in vinegar and stuck them to the glass and it has ed but I still can't seen to get it sparkling clear. I hear oven cleaner works and tried a corner last night and will try more today, but so far Not a major difference. Any other tips?

I found this on http://www.allabouthome.com/tips/cle...Removing-14177. I hope it s. I use Lime-Away or Scrubbing Bubbles.

Removing Water Stains
If the fabric is non-washable, gently scratch off the stain (which is made up of mineral deposits) with your fingernail. Still there? Hold the spot over a steaming teakettle until well-dampened. As it dries, rub the stain, working from its outer edges toward the center.
Remove hard-water stains from glasses and bottles by rubbing them with steel wool dipped in vinegar.
Cover hard-water stains on room fixtures with a paste of baking soda and vinegar. Then drape with a terry clot towel and let stand for about an hour. Wipe off, rinse and dry

I'll do that...In fact I will anounce it to the world! I have had cleaning services tell me it is a "secret" or acid wash it. I can't acid wash it because you have to have some kind of a lic to purchase certain chemicals to my knowledge. So If I figure out a way to be able to clean all hard water stains off of shower doors. I will tell everyone how so it won't be some big secret anymore!

Lokismom...I give up! I have tried everything. Someone said fine steel wool....nothing! Not the vinegar, not the resolve, not lime a way....NOTHING! Arghhhhhh...Oh well. Aside from having a professional come in to do it....it'll just have to have hard water stains on it. I am surprised that there is still glass there considering everything I have tried. Amazing....Hard Water stains and cockroaches...the only 2 things that will survive all time!

Thanks!
Yeah those nasty little creatures...if they aren't the most discusting insects. We get a ton of black widows where we live. As much as I don't like them I still think they are better than roaches. ICK! We also have in this desert date beetles. Talk about ugly! One got into my house, years ago...and into the tub. Guess he wanted a . I swear this 'insect' propped himself up and "looked" at me. I half expected it to start a conversation. I don't remember how we got it out of the house. They are too big to swat with the fly swatter. I just don't like bugs. Especially in the house. Any thing or one live...if you aren't invited in to the house...shouldn't be there.

Now on the other hand if they could find a way to clean those hard water stains.....I would

Thanks again for your
