Irish-Style onion Rings

I find that most Irish recipes as for ale but you do not have to put the ale in to these recipes. If it was being made for us maybe but there are near beers that are out there that has little to non alcahaol in them and could be used if you wanted to. But I have found these can be made with out it. So I hope no one well be mad or about this recipe. THEY CAN BE MADE WITH OUT THE ALE. :D

Irish-Style Onion Rings
You can use any ale in this recipe, but an Irish-style ale works best.
Serves 4
4 cups Cracker crumbs
1/2 teaspoon Garlic powder
1/2 teaspoon Onion powder
1/8 teaspoon Pepper
1 cup Ale
1 Egg
1 1/2 cups Flour
2 large Onions
Oil for frying
Mix together the crumbs, garlic powder, onion powder and pepper. Lightly beat the egg in a separate bowl. Whisk in the flour and beer. Slice the onions into 1/4-inch rings. Preheat the oil to 360. Dip the rings first into the batter and then into the crumbs. Add to the hot oil in batches (turning once) and cook until lightly brown (about 2 minutes). Drain on paper towels.
