Thumbs up Essence (Emeril's recipe)

Now you, too, can "Kick It Up A Notch"

5 Tbls. sweet paprika
1/4 cup each, salt and garlic powder
2 Tbls. each, freshly ground black pepper, onion powder,
cayenne pepper, dried oregano and dried thyme

In small bowl combine all ingredients until well blended.
Store in airtight container in spice cabinet for up to 3 months.

Makes about 1 1/2 cups. Per 1Tbls: 6 calories, 0 protein, 0 fat,
1 g carbohydrate, 0 fiber, 0 cholesterol, 437 mg sodium

I have seen this a couple of times and never write it down. I'll have to print this one when I get home.

Just don't do what my cousin did - I gave her some of this and told her it's be great on the pork chops she said she was planning on making for dinner. Guess I wasn't specific (and she does not watch Emeril so she did not have a clue!) but she "rolled" the chops in this stufff like it was Shake n Bake

Needless to say no one ate them cause they were very, very spicy

I feel the same way you do crazeemama so why spend good money when you can create the same BAM stuff at home so inexpensively...especially if like me you get your spices at the Dollar Stores or similar places

This recipe is the original Emeril's "kick it up a notch" Essence, too, just in case anyone is wondering. I got it from Good Housekeeping mag (the had several Emeril recipes along with this recipe) but it was also printed in a few other magazines a couple of years ago...before he started marketing it himself!
