Testing Baking Powder For Freshness

To determine whether baking powder is still fresh:
Place 1/2 teaspoon baking powder in a small bowl. Add 1/4 cup hot water. If the mixture foams, the baking powder is still good. If it does not foam, replace your box of baking powder.

Good thing to know Mechele. I always wondered about that. You know I even have a Land o Lakes cook book too.

That is right, but if I were to ask Darrel about this I bet he would know the answer. He is stuck inside a cook book all the time. That is his thing, not mine. I would rather bake any day. , maybe I shouldn't have said that huh? I only bake at special holidays though, honest.

That remark is ok DeeDee ... I admit I'm the baker in my family and I greatly prefer it over cooking a meal!!!!!
