Is there a way to set all folders to open in "List" view?
Yes there is - this method works in Windows XP as well as
earlier versions of Windows.
1. First, open a folder and use the menu bar to select
"View" and then "List" or whatever your favorite view is.
2. Now that you are viewing your folder in your preferred
view, click "Tools" and then "Folder Options" in the menu
bar.
3. In the "Folder Options" window, click the "View" tab and
then click the button that reads "Apply to all folders."
4. Click "OK" to close the window and save your changes.
