Question Question?? Help needed,please.

I have a question for everyone. I really need some input on this as quickly as possible. My DH and I are planning to buy our oldest DD a laptop/notebook computer for Christmas. It will be like a Christmas/ with college gift since they are so expensive.

What I would like to know is if anyone has one or knows anything about them. I was told by someone yesterday that they lose their memory very quickly and are hard to maintain. This person said when she went to get one the sales person said she would be better off with a desktop computer. I really don't know alot about computers and darn little about laptops so if any one can me out here I would really appreciate it.

This will be her only gift and I want it to be worth the money. I also would like ANY info on how this wireless connection thing works so , any input would be great!!

Thanks, Polly

I don't have a laptop but here is a pretty good website that gives comparison pricing and reviews from current owners. Hope it s!

PS....I tested the link above and it works when you click on it as it is. Good luck!

Wink

I just did a quick search on Google under
Laptop computers and came up with lots of info

Here is only one link:
http://electronics.howstuffworks.com/laptop.htm

I would love to have one if I travelled, but as I work at home a desk top is fine for me.

Good luck on your search.

Thank you Kathie, I think I'll go check that out real quick. I have been debating over this gift anyway because I'm not sure how much it will her with college. I thought it would be ful but so far I've had some conflicting info. I don't want to spend that much money unless it will REALLY her as that would have to be her only gift because of the price. I want to ask her but haven't figured out a way without tipping her off that we are getting her one. I'm starting to think that maybe just getting a better home computer for here would her just as much. She lives at home and travels to college and so far I have not seen where she needs a computer in class. Soooo, I am still confused and running out of time. Thanks again for the site. And any and all advice is wel.come and appreciated!!
