Child Suicide and Bullying

I am going to talk about something not to pretty or pleasant. Lately I have been hearing about, children as young as 11 years old, committing suicide. The kids are being bullied at school. I have lived here for a period of 47 years the first 6 I lived in Puerto Rico. I was born here but, my parents left and came back. To my misery, I was teased and bullied all throughout junior high school. I was bullied on my graduation day from junior high. I have noticed that in this country, bullying is very much accepted, everyone bullies one another and this is supposed to be normal. We are teaching that this is right by saying that is a part of life. There many forms of bullying. As an adult, the bullying goes from school into the workplace. My daughter was told not to be the victim. Its normal. I tend to differ when the bullying gets to the point, that there are children as young as 11 committing suicide. Sometimes words hurt more than hitting. Please ladies if you have a bully talk to him/her to stop. I see this kids doing this all the time and it causes so much damage.

Thanks for sharing this one. It's very sad to hear a news like this.

That's why parents should carefully guide their children regarding going to school. What I do is I always visit my kids at school and ask their teachers about how they're going. From that alone, I'd be able to know if my children are ok or not.

Here in PA...bullying in schools is taken seriously! I know in our local schools, they will EXPELL the bullies in a heart beat.

They actually have several counselors at the schools now that kids can confide to if they don't feel like telling their parents or the parents can go directly to these special counselors and the matter is promptly addressed.

I think a lot of schools are now changing their policies.
