My oldest daughter (she will be 15 years old in 7 days) is going on a road trip with her 23 year old cousin on Tuesday. My niece is transferring from a VA college to UCONN. She has to be at student orientation and she was going to have to the 8 hours alone so I let my daughter go with her so she would not be alone. Since my daughter is home-schooled it was easy to arrange. I think it will be good for my daughter to see the "prize" you get after high school. I am sure seeing the whole exciting college experience will be good for her. NOW...if I can survive the worry about the two girls traveling so far from home alone. YIKES.

Lulu you have reached the first "step" of letting go. Its not easy to see our kids grow up and begin to do things like this but it happens to the best of us. You are showing her your trust and that means a lot to her. I know you will worry and rightfully so but I am sure they both will be fine. Maybe they should be worried about you instead. You will be a nervous wreck until they get back. She will be fine. Wait and see.
Audrey, my niece is only staying for a couple of days and then they are driving back. They will be home by Friday. Hopefully. UGH.........letting go is very hard to do!!!!

Luz...they went through, as my daughter called it, "Da Bronyx" LOL....if you are near there and saw a speedy SUV with Virginia tags, it probably was my girls!!!

She had fun on campus today. She was mistaken for a student and then an advisor. HOw funny is that...my baby, a 14 year old, people thought were a student. LOL

My knucklehead is all back safe and sound. Thank goodness.
She had a lot of fun and the trip was a real eye opener for her. She is excited about the possiblilites that lay ahead of her and finally seems to get it, that there is a real reason to go to school.
