As I am sure you all have heard, yesterday was a horrible day here in Virginia. 33 of our own students lost their lives to some crazed man who went on a shooting spree. It has been a terrible, terrible time.
Please remember all of these families in er as they cope with the death of their children. Also remember the ones who were injured and are in the hospital. I am ing for the whole of the campus as well.
As a native Virginian and a future Virginia Tech parent, I am so deeply sadenned.

This is truly a tragedy and such a loss. I will for those who lost their lives, the injured and the families trying to cope. Incidents liek these make me want to put my kids in a big protective bubble.
I don't know what the world is coming to any more. It is very scary and somewhere the governement has missed the mark on something. I know there are a lot of factors, but this could have been stopped some how if the right people were paying attention.
Last night on the radio as I was falling a, it said, "even the President of the United States reacted." Wow -- a tragedy like this -- why wouldn't he react? I was ed!

I agree with you. I am terrified about protecting my kids. But I do sort of practice the "bubble" theory....I for them constantly as I am sure you do too. I have even been ing for their future spouses that God would send good men and a good woman. I know I am nuts! But I do believe in storing up!
This tragedy at Virginia Tech is so worrisome. I am waiting to hear if the govenor of Virginia made it back from China yet. As for Prez Bush, I really like him but it makes me nuts how people think he is stupid.
Keep up the ers for all the families. Love you all.

Yes Lulu we listened all day to CNN yesterday about this and I thought of you. I wondered how close you were to all this.
I have been and will continue ing for the families who lost loved ones and those who are injured. Its terrible.
By the way, you are not nuts for "storing up" now. You are making your point and your ers will be answered I am sure of that.

I'm completely outraged about this. As I'm learning more, I'm finding out it could have been prevented. And I'm seeing how so many failed to prevent this. He was kicked out of english class b/c of some horrible things he wrote, and had to study in a teacher's office with an admin present b/c she wasn't comfortable being alone with him. He should have been suspended and forced off campus long ago until he got treatment. And if he refused, he wouldn't be d back. Apparently his writings were horrific. How many times will this happen until we begin to stop being so damn PC and kick the ACLU to the curb and allow our security and higher ups to make decisions to out someone based on unstable things like his writing and other such remarks of harm and violence and FORCE them into therapy or not being able to return. Oh I can see it now, ACLU will say, oh no he has a right to his education no matter what his mental state is before others have a right to be safe. If someone is uncomfortable around an individual b/c of words written or said (in this case there is proof b/c he wrote it down and stalked two girls), they should be removed from campus.
I'll get off my soap box now!

Our society is so unfocused about these issues until a tragedy like this happens. Has anyone noticed the horrific films that have ben put out in the just the past few months? I mean, my goodness. Some of those our just horrific and who goes to see them and enjoy them? We are just feeding the minds of deranged individuals and no one cares becuase it makes money.

People never take mental illness seriously. It is a very serious and revelant thing in our society. Everyone knew he had issues, no one did anything about it. I am not condoning what he did or excusing it. I think is the most heinous thing in the world as a parent I hate it. but, do not tell me this tragedy could not be prevented? There are a lot of mentally ill young people out there, they go unnoticed until they go off and then we tend to rationalilze and try to take care of the issue that should have been taken care of a long time ago.

OMG... On the front page of our local paper head lines read "Threat rumors take kids out of school." False rumors were given to people that a high school student had a hit list planned, and was going to bring a gun to school. THANK GOD all was false... BUT, was it ??? My nerves are shot... Why would high school students make up such terrible rumors.. I hope they find the kids and give them a good punishment.... I'm completely ed!
That is always scary. I don't like it when those things happen.
