Makes 20 servings
5 quarts popped popcorn
1 cup unsalted cashews
2 cups brown suga, packed
1/2 cup light corn syrup
1 cup (2 sticks) butter or margarine
1 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. cream of tartar
1 tsp. baking soda
Heat oven to 200 degrees F. Mix popcorn and cashews in roasting
pan.
In 3 qt. saucepan, combine all ingredients EXCEPT baking soda.
Bring to a boil, stirring, over med. high heat. Without stirring,
boil until mixture reaches hard ball stage or 260 degrees on a
candy thermometer, about 6 - 8 minutes. Remove from heat.
Quickly stir in baking soda.
Pour mixture over popcorn and cashews in roasting pan.
Stir to coat evenly.
Bake in 200 oven for one hour, stirring occasionally.
