Traditional Pound Cake
Traditional Pound Cake is just that, a pound of each of the ingredients. This is wonderful. I got the recipe from my favorite dessert cookbook, My Mother's Southern Desserts
1 pound (4 sticks) butter, softened (No substitutes)
1 pound (2 cups) sugar
9 large eggs
1 pound (4 cups) flour
Dash salt
2 teaspoons vanilla
Juice of 1 lemon
Preheat oven 325. Grease and flour 10" tube pan.
Cream butter until smooth, gradually add the sugar, beating until light and fluff. Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. Gradually add the flour and salt, beating constantly. Add the vanilla and lemon juice and continue beating till well blended. Pour batter in prepared pan and bake approx 1 1/4 hours, just until

pick comes out clean. Be careful not to overbake.
