I found this one in the "Blue Plate Specials and Blue Ribbon Chefs" Cookbook.
The original recipe is from a WWII era cookbook. It may sound a bit odd, but try it, I guarantee you will love it.
2 cups whole milk
3/4 cup all-purpose flour
2 cups sugar (granulated)
8 tablespoons butter (no subs)
1 tablespoon vanilla
1 cup Crisco
Pour milk in saucepan over medium heat. Gradually whisk in flour until a thick paste forms. Do not SCORCH! Remove from stove and

in refrigerator.
In a separate bowl, mix the sugar, butter, vanilla and shortening. Add the

ed paste and whip for at least 3 minutes, until creamy.
I made this once when I didn't have confectioner's sugar and had already made a chocolate cake. It really is fabulous!
