Thumbs up Make your own flavored cream cheese

If you like flavored cream cheese. . .make your own. It's less
expensive and very easy to do. Just get a package or two of
plain cream cheese, allow it to soften at room temperature.
Then add whatever you like to make it flavored...experiment to get the taste you prefer.

For example, I like honey walnut cream cheese (ala Bruegger's)
I allow an 8 oz. pkg of cream cheese to soften (I use neufchatel cause it's lower in fat) then I add some honey and chopped walnuts until the texture and flavor are to my liking. Store in a tightly sealed container, refrigerated, of course.

For veggie cream cheese soften an 8 oz pkg of cream cheese and
blend in about 1/2 pkg. of dry vegetable soup mix...amount will vary depending on your own preferences.

Do the same to make fruit flavored cream cheese - add either fresh fruit or canned fruits, jams, jellies or preserves.

Make your own onion and chive, by adding minced dry onion and
chopped chives.

The options are endless, pizza flavored, taco flavored, mint, even
one of my favorites...chocolate cream cheese (just add some cocoa and a bit of brown sugar to slightly sweeten it), use and do whatever you like.

All it takes is some creativity and imagination.

I just made a batch of veggie cream cheese this ...no only does it cost less but you can flavor it any way you choose

I started making flavored cream cheese, about 3 years ago, after spending way too much buying honey walnut cream cheese (it's one of my favs) from Bruegger's. I just figured I could try it on my own, it came out fine. From there I experimented with different kinds, but veggie and honey walnut are the two I make most often.
