Preheat oven to 400°

Sift together into a bowl:
- 1 1/3 cups sifted flour
- 3 teaspoons baking powder
- 1/4 teaspoon salt

Combine and then add to dry ingredients:
- 2 eggs, beaten
- 2/3 cup milk
- 1/3 cup maple syrup
- 2 tablespoons melted shortening or cooking oil

Stir just enough to mix thoroughly. Do not beat. Pour into greased 9 x 9 inch pan and bake about 30 minutes.

When baked in foil loaf tins this bread can be packaged and makes a nice gift.
