Patricia Cornwell

I just picked up my first Patricia Cornwell book. It is a "true crime" book on Jack the Ripper. It looks really interesting. Does anyone else like her books? It looks like she has a Kay Scarpetta series and police precinct thrillers. What would you recommend someone who has never read her books to read first?

I love Patricia Cornwell. I have read all of the Scarpetta books, actually I own all of them, in hardcover even. (Thank God for book clubs) I just finished the latest one "Blow Fly" today.

The first one in the series is Post Mortum. I would suggest reading them in order because even though the early ones could be stand alone, the later ones should to be read in order so you get the whole story.

They do get a little graphic. She actually was an ME so she writes about autopsies in detail. If you like CSI you will really love these books.

If you like I can email you the list of the books in order.

Thanks Metz72! I'll have to check out Post Mortem and see how I like it! Have you read any of Faye Kellerman's Peter Decker series? They tend to get a bit graphic too...I'm just wondering how they compare in that way. I'll just have to read the first book to find out!

I agree with metz72. Start at the beginning. They are great reads. I have a hard time putting them down. I don't know if I've read the other books or not. they sound somewhat familiar so I'm thinking maybe I read one. It is a series right? I'll have to check them out. Thanks for the tip.
Metz72, I just finished blow fly too. It was great!!! I can't wait for the next one to come out. Did you think you know who(won't say name so I don't spoil it for anyone else) was alive??? I didn't. this caught me by surprise. I can't wait to see what happens. I've got to see if I still have all the books , I'm going to pass them on to my dr. I was reading Blow fly theother day and he said he has one of her books. It was set in virginia in the building that he and his wife first met in. How is that?? So I want to let him read them all. Did you like jack the ripper? I still haven't finished it. It's one of thosebooks that I like to kind of mull over as I read. I normally don't like to start a new book until I finish what I am reading but I did this time. Anyway I would r opinion on these books or any others. I love to read.

Patricia Cornwell's one of my favorite authors. I've read everything she's written thus far and can't wait for her next Scarpetta novel. She was on Good Morning America talking about the Ripper book during the summer...very interesting s & possibilities she's arrived at.

I just finished reading Jonathan Kellerman's The Murder Book - a bit dragging towards the end but he's a great story teller. I love his Alex Delaware novels. He's also written a few child psych books, which is how I came to read his other books. And his wife Faye Kellerman's Peter/Rina Decker novels are outstanding!

I'm really "into" true crime books (should I discuss that with my therapist? LOL) and Anne Rule's the in that genre! Right now I'm reading Jack Olsen's last novel, before his untimely death, entitled "I - The Creation of a Serial Killer" told BY the man who commited many rapes and murders.

I've read the first several chapters but it is taking a while to get thru it. The reason why is I get creeped out and have to switch to another more light-hearted book. It is a good book though. I've enjoyed reading it so far, even though I get creeped out LOL!

I haven't read the Jack the Ripper one. I haven't decided yet if I will. Its funny I love fiction crime books but don't especially like non-fiction ones. I might have to read this one though.

Polly, I was blown away by the revelation especially with those who were in on it. I never guessed that it would happen because I had gotten my hopes up before, I think it was Black Notice that teased about it.

I am also a big fan of Kathryn Reichs. Her main character is a forensic anthropologist and solves cases.

Metz72, I was blown away too. didn't see that one coming. I can't wait for the next book. I'll have to check out Kathryn Riech. I can't remember if I've read any of her books or not. I read so many I forget. If you like a little light hearted mystery check out Lillan Jackson Brown for Her cat series with Jim Quilleran as the main character. The first few are a little dry but they get better. I love to check up on Koko and YumYum, the 2 cats in the series. They are hilarious. Janet Evanovich is another fav of mine. These books are hilarious. I also like Sue Grafton.
I still haven' t finished Jack the Ripper. I need to have quiet to be able to concentrate on that one. It is a lot of facts. I also haven't read the one Patricia did on Ruth Graham (Billy Graham's wife.)I don't know how I missed that one but I need to find it and read it. If anyone has read it let me know what you think, . Thanks.
