Baby Oatmeal

Baby Oatmeal

Put a cup of water in a saucepan on the stove top to boil. Meanwhile, take 1/4 cup (4 tablespoons) of oatmeal (non-quick cooking) and whiz it in the blender until it becomes a powder, stir it into the cup of boiling water, turn the heat down to low, and let cook for 10 minutes. Stir with a whisk or fork to prevent lumping and scorching on the bottom. Let thoroughly before feeding to your baby. It will look just like the commercial boxed baby oatmeal mixed with liquid, but much, much more economical!

Dawn, Thank you so much for this one! I can't wait to try it. We've been coasting along with rice cereal. She's not complaining, but I've tasted it and it tastes like the box! I would love to make this for her just to see her reaction! I'll let you know how she likes it!

Thanks, Claire - I started giving Mary oatmeal today and she loves it. Of course, it is the kin from a box because I already had it, but once I run out, I'm going to try this one. Let me know how Maddy likes it.

I will, but I'm like you, I have all these boxes of cereal that I don't want to let go to waste...so I'll probably be making the oatmeal for my next child. HA! I wonder if there's a recipe that calls for this boxed cereal, like a or something...that would use up our boxed cereal faster!
But I will definitely let you know when we try your recipe!
