I've gone through phases with crafts and lately haven't really done anything. I thought maybe we could post our favorites and get new s. Soooo, what do you like to do? Maybe we can swap s and ask questions about crafts we've never tried.

PEANUT BUTTER!!
I like to crochet and cross-stitch, but just don't take the time.
What I'd love to learn is quilting!!
And everyone keeps talking about scrapbooking, and to sound stupid, but other than collecting things and putting them together, I have no what it involves that so many people are into it.
I love to do patchwork and quilting, but I don't get to do as much as I'd like. I have lots of fabric that I collect (actually, I'm addicted to fabric!) I have several quilt tops in different stages, but have not got them in the layers to actually hand quilt yet. I do pretty well with small pieces. I did a patriotic patchwork for my husband's office and we framed it. I like to make new patchwork pot holders each year. I want to do some decoupage, and some wreaths etc with things like twigs, and shells and other natural items. I also like to do floral arranging and have silk flowers all around my house.
I would love some new s of things to do. Maybe we can encourage each other to find some time for ourselves to do the creative things we want to do but put off too often!
I love to knit first of all and also love to do pretty punch. My hubby and I have done a lot of that and also we make teddy bears.
As for quilting, I hate anything that involves a needle and thread. I just dont' have any patience with stuff like that. I would love to be able to cross stitch but again the patience comes in there which I lack with stuff like that.
I have done a lot of crafts, rug hooking, crochet, knitting, pretty punch, making teddy bears and hubby makes cat tents. I have never tried paper tole but would like to someday try it.
So Polly, what have you done or what would you like to do now?
This will show you some pictures of finished products. This craft is done with a dial-a-loop needle and yarn. You punch into material and follow a transfer pattern. Once the pattern is finished, it can be glued on the back so it doesnt come undone, then can be brushed, or left as is and can be put onto sweatshirts, t-shirts, purses, lamps, jackets, almost anything at all. There are so many things you can do with it when its finished. I have done so many different patterns and have some in h with lace around it.
I cant' figure out how to put it in here as a jpeg or I would. I will try to put some into the photo section and will let you know if I had success or not.
ok, I just tried to upload some pictures but it keeps telling me error. So guess you have to wait until I can figure out how to do this. If anyone else knows how, can they fill me in ?
That sounds so ! I hope we will get to see some of your work.
The rug crafting info on the site sounded interesting too.
Now, I want to try it all! Tee hee! Just me find the time for all the things I want to play with!
Linda both of these crafts are so easy to do and so much fun. The only thing that is costly is the yarn. You need so many different colors to do a pattern. Especially black and white which for me is hard to get around here. I have to send by mail for mine. It is not ordinary knitting yarn, its called pretty punch yarn. Our dealer moved away from here so now its hard for me to find it.
Rug hooking is so simple. All you need is your canvas, yarn and a hook and you are all set. You can get sets at Mary Maxim if you have that near you. Its also a website you could order from I think. They have the starter rug hooking kits.
I will keep trying to upload some pics for you guys to see our work. Wish me luck.
OH , what alot of great s. I have crocheted, made pillows, cross stitched, embroidered and have worked on a quilt which was done just need me to finish knotting it and then do the ends. Well, I didn't get that done but now I have some quilting frames. I need to clean them up and put a fresh coat of paint on them, hopefully this spring and then maybe I can set the quilt up and get it finished. I hope. But DeeDee I have wanted to get into pretty punch for a long time but somene I talked to kind of discouraged me from it. Now you have me hopeful again. It looks like it would be so relaxing to do. Also I'm interested in the rug hooking. That sound like fun too. I will probably pick your brain aobut this stuff alot. I am one who usualy has to be shown or told every detail before I catch on to something. Someone posted the knotted pillows at Christmas time(, I don't remember who) and my girls just made some but I wasn't very clear on the corners, Oh well, they had fun!! I can't wait to learn more. Thank you all for posting. This is a great way to get s. I'd still like to learn more about patchwork. Is that like quilting? Oh there are so many good s on here that I would like to try. Hmmm, where to start, where to start??????

DeeDee, are they too big?? That's the only error I've ever received when trying to post a pic. Do you need resizing?? Brad taught me how to a couple of days ago.

Polly,
Patchwork is one of the types of quilting. It is just cutting fabric into shapes or pieces and putting them together to form patters. It's really easy like working a jigsaw puzzle that you create with squares, triangles, etc. The results are from which fabrics you place next to others in your pattern. There are tons of free patterns on the internet too. Just go to whatever search engine you use like yahoo or google and type in "free quilting patterns." It will bring up all types from patchwork to applique and everything else.
Patchwork is lots of fun when working with all the great patriotic fabrics. They are so many possibilities...
Have fun with all these things we are finding out we want to try. I am going to look at the internet for Mary Maxim to have a look see!
Wow Polly, you have done a lot there too.
As for pretty punch, yes its very relaxing. My hubby can sit and do that for hours and hours. We have so much done and have to get it all framed. Hubby did the Last Supper and it took him three months to do it. It is beautiful. My sil took it and the lions head which is all brushed out and she is going to frame them for us. If we ever get them back. She has had them now for a long time.
Misty, yes it says they are too big. I will send some to you by email if you can resize them and post them for me. I would appreciate it.
Rug hooking Polly is so simple to do. You would enjoy doing that too I am sure.
As for patchwork, can't you there, with a needle and thread or anything I am at a complete loss. No patience for that stuff.
You can go ahead and pick my brain if you want, I will be happy to you out.
OH boy, I'm getting excited!! I've really been wanting to find a new craft to do. Something kind of easy and relaxing. Lindaann thanks for the info on patchworking. I hope to do something like that some day. DeeDee, is there a web site or something where I can go and learn about Rughooking? And as for the pretty punch, do you buy materials that have stuff printed on them or what? I'm not sure how it all works and I know there are different size needles or something. Which is best? I'm glad you don't mind me picking your brain, cuz like I said I have to have everthing laid out for me. . Once I learn, I'm ok, but I always have a bunch of questions to begin with. I think it's great that your husband does it with you. That is too . Well, thanks again for all of your ladies. I can't wait to get started on something. But I'll do my research first like a good little girl. haha
