hmm that's horrible! It's really sad because people get all caught up in winning that kids who might be really good don't get to show off their stuff because no one nows how well they play!

Well I don't think it's the winning thing because they have'nt won a game yet but I do think it's got alot to do with the coach letting the taller boys play more there's this one boy who has never set out he's the tallest one on the team!!

I hope he gets to start playing more.. I would hate to see it break his spirit. Best Wishes!

My husband is a brand new JV basketball coach at a residential/therapeutic boarding school. He's ing right now, but I'll ask him later for his opinion, how he plans to handle the season. They begin practice today and don't start playing until 11/18, but I see what he says and post an answer for you.

In the meantime, has your son approached the coach?

My oldest daughter (11) is very athletic. Any sport she plays she excels at. Our problem this past year was that she was playing for our city team (softball). We live in a relatively small town (14,000) so its basically if the coach likes you (the parent), the girl gets lots of play time. Very political.................We decided to move her to a private team (costing bucks!!!!) so she could continue to excel even tho her mom isn't always well liked in the community. So far so good. We're in this for the long haul, hoping it will lead to a scholarship down the line.

I think it absolutely sucks that your kid doesn't get even play time. It breaks a kids spirit!! Hope things turn around for him!!
