Weaning from Breastfeeding

Anyone had any experiences that they would like to share about weaning their baby? I have been breastfeeding for 7 months and it is starting to wear on me. I had no plans to breastfeed for the next couple of years, but I would like to wrap things up by the time he is a year old at the latest.

I'm not much . My baby self weaned at 6 months. He was getting the bottle from Dad while I was at work and decided it required less work for him to get fed that way.

It's a slow process, some babies have a hard time. You need to find those nipples that look natural, not sure about the name. Then just try to introduce the baby slowly I hope it works It worked for me. i will try to find the name somewhere. Good luck!!

I breast and bottlefed both of my girls almost from the start so we didn't have much problem weaning. I just slowly replaced a breast feeding with a bottle till I was only nursing once first thing in the and bedtime for a couple of weeks and then just at night for a week. With the second one I kept the night feeding for quite a while because I knew she was the last one I would have. I really enjoyed the closeness of nursing, but physically breastfeeding was hard on me. I couldn't have done it more than a year.

I had not intentions on nursing- but my daughter would not take a bottle. I was very lucky I had more than enough milk. I had to wear breast pads for a year. I nursed for 13 months.
I would suggest to nurse till a year if you can do it. The slower you wean the easier it will be. (In my opinion) Slowly take away one feeding at a time. I started with the nursing. I made it a point to get up and go to the kitchen and give her a sippy cup with whole milk and cereal. The took away another about 2-3 weeks later.
My daughter had texture issues (still does) and did not eat much. She is 22 months and weighs 20 pounds. If you need anything just ask and I will be more than glad to any way I can.
Good luck!!!
