I remember when my kids would want to go over to someone's house whom I had never met. I would have them call and I would talk to the parents to get an

of what they were like. I would tell them what I would allow my children to see or do, and I would also ask them if they smoked, drank, etc. I don't think that you can be too overprotective of your children. They have only one life, and it is our job as parents to see that they are happy, healthy and safe. Most parents I talked to were very understanding, and after these conversations, they felt very comfortable sending their children over to my house, because they knew that their kids would be well taken care of.
