Well, I just spent the weekend in the hospital with my almost 2 year old. He went in late Friday night with an asthma attack and a fever of 101 degrees. We figure it was the high humidity that set it off this time. When we came home yesterday I went to bed, I was so wiped out. I got up at 8:30 Friday and was up until Saturday night with maybe an hour in there. I have to say that we had wonderful nurses while there. I don't think that I could handle that job, watching all of thoses little kids. He is doing a lot better now. I have to give him a breathing treatment every 4 hours and orapred every 8 eight. Hope that the humidity breaks soon. It is just too hot and miserable out for him to go outside. It is so hard watching your little one and not being able to fix it.

Amy I am so to hear about Jimmy's asthma attack. I know what they are like as I have asthma myself and its scarey when you can't breathe.
I am glad he is feeling a lot better and yes the humidity does cause a lot of it.
I hope you get rested up. Hope the humidity breaks for you soon too. It sure is not fun.

I feel you. My Tiffany(7 )gets asthma also. This humidity does not at all. I keep her in the tub for a while, it s. She has only been to the hospital once for asthma. As for my son Helit, he has hospitalized 60 times one conforting tought is that he is 13 now and he hardly ever get an episode. Now have you asked your doctor about Singulair. They are chewables and he would take them before bed. Tiffany was doing fine on that and so is my granddaughter. Tiffany ran out and the prescription plan changed and she was left without her Singulair for about a week. Now she is back on track with that. She also goes on the nebulizer. Believe me my ers are with you because, I have been there.

I feel for you I have asthma and it was really bad when I was a kid wasnt able to go places when it was really or really hot had to stay in my room lots of time with an airconditioner.
I have been living in my bedroom with the airconditioner for my asthma and plus im hot with the weight of the baby. its hard when you cant go anywhere hopefully the humidity will calm down so he can go out does the pollen get to him also? That really attacks me too.
Jimy went for a checkup today. He is definatly doing better but still wheezing a little bit. The Dr. put him on Singulair 4mg, granules. He will take it once a day sprinkled on food. It is not supposed to have a taste, we will see. My older son always just knew if I put anything in his food even if he did not see me do it. Hope I get away with it now. Also supposed to continue using nebulizer with palmicort once a day.

I don't know much about asthma other than my brother had it bad when he was a kid and has now grown out of it. (he's 40) I cannot imagine how scary it must be...for you and your little one. :(
I hope the Singulair helPs him and the humidity situation improves soon. I guess that's why living on the West coast where the humidity is much lower Helps people with breathing problems, huh? Learn something new everyday.
I have two kids on the singulair and they use the chewable ones cant he chew meds or have a prob. swallowing is that why the dr gave you the granuials? They do really well with it hope it works for him believe me its no fun at all with the constant weather change and all take care.
Glad to hear Jimmy is getting better. I used to take amesec but not sure if they have that anymore. It was a capsule but I was older when I started taking it also.
I took needles for over 10 years, once a week for my asthma.
I hope the medication Jimmy is on now s him and I also hope you can hide it in his food and he wont' be any the wiser.

I am glad Jimmy is doing better. I hope the granules work. Like I told you the one my daughter gets is chewable, like the Tylenol pills. She says they taste like cherry. The humidity is down now hopefully you can also breathe a sight of relief no pun intended.
